Love Nature’s new highly-anticipated wildlife and nature series, Stormborn, travels north across some of the most remote and rugged landscapes to film a compelling cast of charismatic and tenacious animal characters, including Arctic foxes, otters, and reindeer, over the course of a dramatic breeding season. Golden Globe® Award winner Ewan McGregor lends his soulful voice to the three-part series as cameras follow these incredible animals across McGregor’s homeland of Scotland, as well as Iceland, and Norway. Featuring emotional and suspenseful storylines, Stormborn captures never-before-seen animal behaviour and reveals the extreme weather conditions these species face to ensure their bloodline survives in the remote North. The world broadcast premiere of Stormborn airs Sunday, November 15 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Love Nature during the channel’s nationwide free preview event from November 2, 2020 to January 3, 2021. Viewers can watch the official trailer for Stormborn here.
“Stormborn has quickly become the most highly-anticipated, must-see television event of the year for Love Nature, and to have Ewan McGregor on board to take our viewers on this journey makes it even more exciting,” says Craig Junner, Senior Director, Video Strategy, Canadian Media at Blue Ant Media. “We’re thrilled to premiere Stormborn during Love Nature’s nationwide free preview event so even more Canadians can enjoy the cinematic quality of this natural history, blue-chip series.”
“I can’t wait to see the finished series,” says Golden Globe® Award winner, Ewan McGregor who recorded Stormborn remotely during lockdown to finish the trilogy in time for Love Nature’s November premiere in Canada. “It’s amazing to get such a personal glimpse into the lives of such amazing animals.”
Canadian audiences will join these animals as they race against the darkness, breeding and raising their young during a short, harsh season before winter returns. Stormborn also documents how these animals and their habitats are under threat, with weather patterns across Scotland, Iceland and Norway becoming even more unpredictable as a result of climate change.
The trilogy travels deep into the rarely explored latitude of the Subarctic to capture several filming firsts of animal behaviour that have never been observed by scientists, including Arctic foxes in Iceland developing and mastering a new hunting technique to catch kittiwakes; drone footage of an orca catching a porpoise; the first-ever 4K footage of a seal killing a pup; and the most detailed footage ever recorded of a reindeer fjord crossing.
