Jake Doyle (Allan Hawco)is in for a bad day when he finds himself being forced to juggle multiple cases. Investigative reporter Kyla MacRury (Kristen Gutoskie) is calling in a much owed favour, demanding that Jake let her shadow him in hopes of finding a scoop for the paper. Her timing couldn’t be worse as Jake is in the middle of investigating attempts made on the life of his ex-girlfriend Allison Jenkins (Michelle Nolden), and is also trying to recover important documents for Walter. On top of his already hectic day, Jake is recruited by a frantic woman (Genelle Williams) in need of protection from a perilous stalker. None of these cases show any promise of being a walk in the park: each one seems to rope Jake and the team into increasingly dangerous situations.
With all of these balls in the air, Leslie (Krystin Pellerin) deals a blow to Jake when she requests that they lay low for a while, on account of gossip that the RNC is granting Jake special favours. Meanwhile, Tinny (Marthe Bernard) begins acting particularly cold towards her Uncle Jake and it all revolves around her new relationship with her convict father.
