TV Gord’s WHAT’S ON for the week of June 30th to July 6th, 2019

Comedy rolls out new seasons of The Detour, Angie Tribeca, and the long-anticipated Corner Gas Animated, which is back for season two. Also long-awaited is the Alan Cumming drama, Instinct, and Fred Savage (The Wonder Years) starring as the host of a fictional reality series after-show. Happy Canada Day and Happy Viewing!

The Rook – 8 to 9pm on Starz – Miniseries Premiere

Emma Greenwell stars as Myfanwy Thomas, a woman who wakes up in the rain beside London’s Millennium Bridge surrounded by dead bodies and with no memory of what happened leading up to that moment.

Instinct – 9 to 10pm on CBS/Global – 2nd Season Premiere

Sunday Best – 8 to 10pm (two episodes) on BET – 9th Season Premiere

What Just Happened??! With Fred Savage – 9:30 to 10pm on Fox – Series Premiere

This comedy is actually a parody of a reality TV after-show. Fred Savage is playing a heightened version of himself, who is a rabid fan of the faux-show called, The Flare.

The Loudest Voice – 10 to 11pm on Crave – Miniseries Premiere

Russell Crowe stars as media mogul Roger Ailes in this five-part drama that follows his emergence as a power-player in Republican politics up to his downfall in the #MeToo era.

Monday

Canada Day in the Capital – 8 to 10pm on CBC

The annual celebration from Parliament Hill features performances by Brett Kissel, The Strumbellas, Marie Mai, Couer de Pirate, Crystal Shawanda, Karim Ouellet, K’Naan, and William Prince.

Corner Gas Animated – 8 to 9pm (two episodes) on Comedy – 2nd Season Premiere

Secrets of the Dead – 8 to 9pm on PBS – 18th Season Premiere

The Code – 9 to 10pm on CBS/Global

This series abruptly left the schedule a few weeks ago, so now it’s back with its remaining episodes.

Divorce – 10 to 10:30pm on HBO – 3rd and Final Season Premiere

Tuesday

The Amazing Race Canada – 9 to 10pm on CTV – 7th Season Premiere

Wednesday

Let’s Get Physical – 9 to 9:30pm on Superchannel Fuse – Series Premiere

Matt Jones stars as Joe Force in this comedy about a man who stands to inherit a fortune from his father, but only if he beats his rival in an Aerobics competition, which is easier said than done. Jane Seymour also stars.

Thursday

King of the Road – 10 to 11pm on MTV – 2nd Season Premiere

Angie Tribeca – 10:30 to 11pm on Comedy – 4th Season Premiere

Saturday

Dead Set on Life – 9pm to 12am (six episodes) on MTV

Chef Matty Matheson goes on a food adventure across Canada (and beyond), meeting people from all walks of life.
