TSN announced today that Canadian basketball star Kia Nurse has joined Canada’s Sports Leader as a basketball analyst, making regular contributions to TSN’s basketball coverage.
Nurse begins her new role with TSN today, contributing her analysis of the NBA and WNBA PLAYOFFS in TSN’s SPORTSCENTRE. Nurse will make regular appearances on TSN platforms while maintaining her on-court roles with Canada’s National Women’s Team and the WNBA’s New York Liberty.
The two-time NCAA® women’s basketball champion, WNBA All-Star, and Canadian Olympian previously appeared on TSN as an analyst during the network’s live coverage of NCAA® MARCH MADNESS® in 2019.
“I’ve truly enjoyed my time in front of the camera as much as I have playing basketball and I’m honoured to be back to talk about the game I love,” said Nurse. “I’m excited to join the amazing team at TSN, and look forward to expanding my experience as a broadcaster.”
“We’re extremely excited to have an elite and instantly recognizable Canadian basketball personality in Kia Nurse join our team and connect with fans across the country,” said Nathalie Cook, Vice-President, TSN. “We will continue to cheer Kia on in her all-star role on the court, and she will elevate our broadcasts with her insights and in-depth knowledge of the game.”
Drafted 10th overall in the 2018 WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty, Nurse played college basketball at University of Connecticut, winning back-to-back NCAA® women’s basketball titles in 2015 and 2016. She has also been a member of Team Canada since 2011.
The Hamilton native was a starter for the 2019 WNBA All-Star game, won back-to-back championships with the Canberra Capitals of the WNBL in Australia in 2019 and 2020, and was awarded MVP of the WNBL for the 2020 season.
