Crave Highlights for May 2023

MUST-WATCH TITLES FOR MAY


MAY 1 – THE OFFICE (US) *The Complete Series*

  • Stream all seasons and episodes of THE OFFICE on Crave, beginning Monday, May 1. From Deedle-Dee Productions, Reveille, and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, the multi award-winning, pop culture phenomenon presents a hilarious, documentary-style look at the humourous, and sometimes poignant, foolishness that plagues the nine-to-five world. Based on the award-winning BBC hit of the same name, THE OFFICE is a fly-on-the-wall “docu-reality” parody of modern American office life, that delves into the lives of the workers at Dunder Mifflin, a paper supply company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Starring Steve Carrell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, B.J. Novak, Ed Helms, Mindy Kaling, and more.


MAY 1 – HBO’s WHITE HOUSE PLUMBERS  *Limited Series Premiere*

  • From David Mandel (VEEP), WHITE HOUSE PLUMBERS is a five-episode limited series that takes audiencesbehind-the-scenes of the Watergate scandal as Nixon’s political saboteurs, E. Howard Hunt (Woody Harrelson) and G. Gordon Liddy (Justin Theroux), accidentally topple the presidency they were zealously trying to protect… and their families along with it. Chronicling actions on the ground, this satirical drama begins in 1971 when the White House hires Hunt and Liddy, former CIA and FBI, respectively, to investigate the Pentagon Papers leak. After failing upward, the unlikely pair lands on the Committee to Re-elect the President, plotting several unbelievable covert ops – including bugging the Democratic National Committee offices at the Watergate complex. Proving that history can sometimes be stranger than fiction, WHITE HOUSE PLUMBERS sheds light on the lesser-known series of events that led to one of America’s greatest political crimes. Additional cast includes Lena Headey, Judy Greer, Domhnall Glesson, Toby Huss, Ike Barinholtz, Kathleen Turner, Kim Coates, and John Caroll Lynch. WHITE HOUSE PLUMBERS premieres Monday, May 1 at 9 p.m. ET, with new episodes streaming Mondays at 9 p.m. ET.


MAY 17 – SISTERS *Crave Original Series Premiere*

  • Written by, and starring Susan Stanley and Canadian Emmy®-nominated actress Sarah Goldberg (BARRY), and directed by Emmy-nominee Declan Lowney (TED LASSO), the Crave Original series SISTERS, debuts with the entire first season on Wednesday, May 17. Set in Ireland, the six-part, character-driven series follows Sare (Goldberg) and Suze (Stanley), born continents apart, in Canada and in Ireland, as they discover that they are half-sisters and embark on a road trip to find their alcoholic father. SISTERS explores how the absence of parents can influence adult life in unforeseen ways, and how that void can affect a woman’s relationship to alcohol, men, work, and motherhood (or lack thereof) – and the macabre humour that can come with trauma.


MAY 26 – LITTLE BIRD *Crave and APTN Original Series Premiere*

  • Crave and APTN premiere their much-anticipated original drama, LITTLE BIRD on Friday, May 26. The six-part, one-hour limited series explores universal themes of resilience in the face of trauma and loss. Removed from her home in Long Pine Reserve in Saskatchewan, Bezhig Little Bird (Darla Contois) is adopted into a Montréal Jewish family at age five, becoming Esther Rosenblum. Now in her 20s, Bezhig longs for the family she lost and is willing to sacrifice everything to find them. Her search lands her in the Canadian Prairies, worlds apart from everything she knows. As she begins to track down her siblings, she unravels the mystery behind her adoption and discovers that her apprehension was connected to a racist government policy, now known as the Sixties Scoop. Bezhig’s sense of identity shatters, and she is forced to reckon with who she is and who she wants to become. LITTLE BIRD follows a weekly release schedule, with new episodes streaming Fridays.


MAY 29 – HBO Original Movie REALITY *Movie Premiere*

  • Written and directed by Tina Satter, and based on her 2019 play, “Is This a Room,” the HBO original movie REALITY debuts Monday, May 29 at 10 p.m. ET. On June 3, 2017, 25-year-old former American intelligence specialist Reality Winner (Sydney Sweeney) is confronted by FBI agents arriving at her home to question her suspected role in the mishandling of classified information. Based on true events, the film’s dialogue is directly from the transcript of their tense, and transfixing conversation.

HIGHLIGHTS


MAY 4 – HBO Max’s THE OTHER TWO *Season 3 Premiere*

  • After comparing themselves for years to their much-younger pop star brother, ChaseDreams, who is now a full adult, and their talk-show host mother, who’s now more powerful than she could have ever imagined, Brooke and Cary are finally standing on their own two feet,fully “successful” in their own right! And yet, they somehow find themselves comparing themselves to new people, once again. The critically acclaimed series is created, written, and executive produced by former SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE co-head writers Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider, and stars Drew Tarver, Heléne Yorke, Case Walker, Ken Marino, and Molly Shannon. The 10-episode season begins with a two episode premiere on Thursday, May 4, with subsequent episodes dropping Thursdays.


MAY 19 – LETTERKENNY: MAY 2-4 *Crave Original Special Premiere*

  • The hicks celebrate the May long weekend.


MAY 19 – MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU *Movie Premiere*

  • In the 1970s, young Gru (Steve Carrell) tries to join a group of supervillains called the Vicious 6 after they oust their leader, the legendary fighter, Wild Knuckles (Alan Arkin). When the interview turns disastrous, Gru and his Minions go on the run with the Vicious 6 hot on their tails. Luckily, he finds an unlikely source for guidance, Wild Knuckles himself, and soon discovers that even bad guys need a little help from their friends. MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU also stars Julie Andrews, Michelle Yeoh, Russell Brand, and Taraji P. Henson.


MAY 19 – WHITNEY HOUSTON: I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY *Movie Premiere*

  • Starring BAFTA Award® winner Naomi Ackie and Stanley Tucci, WHITNEY HOUSTON: I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY celebrates the trailblazing life and career of one of the best-selling, and most awarded recording artists of all time. Discovered by record executive Clive Davis (Tucci), Whitney Houston rises from obscurity to international fame in the 1980s to become one of the greatest singers of her generation.


MAY 20 – HBO’s LOVE TO LOVE YOU, DONNA SUMMER *Documentary Premiere*

  • An official selection of Hot Docs, HBO’s LOVE TO LOVE YOU, DONNA SUMMER is an in-depth look at the iconic artist as she creates music that takes her from the avant-garde music scene in Germany, to the glitter and bright lights of dance clubs in New York, to worldwide acclaim, with her voice and artistry becoming the defining soundtrack of an era. A deeply personal portrait of Summer on and off the stage, the film features a wealth of photographs and never-before-seen home video footage, often shot by Summer herself. The documentary provides a rich window into the surprising range of her artistry, from songwriting to painting, while exploring the highs and lows of a life lived on the global stage. LOVE TO LOVE YOU, DONNA SUMMER is directed by Oscar® and Emmy-winning filmmaker Roger Ross Williams (The Apollo), and debuts Saturday, May 20 at 8 p.m. ET.


MAY 23 – SHAZAM!: FURY OF THE GODS *Movie Premiere*

  • Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson (Asher Angel / Zachary Levi) and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with their adult superhero alter egos. When a vengeful trio of ancient gods arrives on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Shazam and his allies get thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of the world.


MAY 26 – STARZ’s RUN THE WORLD *Season 2 Premiere*

  • Return to the vibrant world of of Harlem, as seen through the lives of three 30-something best friends in Season 2 of STARZ’s critically acclaimed series RUN THE WORLD, streaming Friday, May 26. Rated 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, the series chronicles the euphoric highs and heartbreaking lows that Whitney (Amber Stevens West, 22 Jump Street), Renee (Bresha Webb, MARLON), and Sondi (Corbin Reid, VALOR) must endure in their pursuit of world domination. MAY 30 – Crave Original Series DARK SIDE OF THE RING *Season 4 Premiere*

  • The critically-acclaimed Crave Original docuseries DARK SIDE OF THE RING returns for its fourth season, beginning Tuesday, May 30 at 10 p.m. ET. Produced in partnership with VICE studios, and narrated by wrestling legend Chris Jericho, Season 4 offers an inside look into the stories of the emotional rollercoaster, of one of wrestling’s most captivating and controversial couples, Chris Candido and Tammy “Sunny” Sytch; the car accident that derailed the career of future World Champion Magnum T.A.; wrestling’s most unhinged monster, Abdullah the Butcher; a focused look on the troubled life of Marty Jannetty; Shawn Michaels’ former tag team partner; and much more. DARK SIDE OF THE RING follows a weekly release schedule, with new episodes available to stream Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET.
