Crave Highlights for December 2020

MUST-WATCH TITLES FOR DECEMBER

December 3 – HBO Max Original MY GIFT: A CHRISTMAS SPECIAL FROM CARRIE UNDERWOOD *Special*

  • Crave spreads holiday cheer with Carrie Underwood’s new holiday music special MY GIFT: A CHRISTMAS SPECIAL FROM CARRIE UNDERWOOD, premiering Thursday, Dec. 3. In the HBO Max Original, Underwood performs a combination of beloved traditional favourites celebrating the joy of the holiday, as well as new original material from her first full-length Christmas album, My Gift. The special features a duet with Grammy® winner John Legend, singing Hallelujah, and an original song he co-wrote with Toby Gad. Viewers will also get an inside look behind the scenes of Underwood recording Little Drummer Boy with her five-year-old son, Isaiah.

December 3 – HBO Max Original STYLISH WITH JENNA LYONS *New Series*

  • All eight episodes of the new HBO Max Original series STYLISH WITH JENNA LYONS drop on Thursday, Dec. 3. As president of J. Crew, Jenna Lyons became “the woman who dresses America,” a formidable business and style icon. Now, Jenna is experiencing a rebirth, and her reputation is on the line.In a refreshing mix of elevated documentary and formatted competition, the series  follows Jenna as she tackles design projects that will help define her future business. These include renovating her friend’s Brooklyn townhouse, hosting mobile fashion makeovers, designing her new office, and launching LoveSeen, her fresh take on false lashes. Jenna’s staff, including her chief-of-staff, Kyle DeFord, and stylist, Sarah Clary, join her in this ambitious new venture, delivering a masterclass in taste, design, and fashion, with every episode.

December 6 – HBO’s EUPHORIA *Special Episodes* (9 p.m. ET)

  • HBO’s Emmy®-winning drama series EUPHORIA presents two special episodes, with the first premiering Sunday, Dec. 6 at 9 p.m. ET. The first episode follows Rue (Zendaya) as she celebrates Christmas and the aftermath of being left by Jules (Hunter Schafer) at the train station while relapsing. This episode also stars Colman Domingo (Selma), who returns as Ali, a man also in recovery from a substance use disorder and frequently speaks at Rue’s Narcotics Anonymous meetings. Broadcast details for the second special will be announced in the coming weeks.

December 6 – STARZ’s POWER BOOK II: GHOST *Mid-Season Premiere*

  • STARZ’s POWER BOOK II: GHOST returns with five new episodes to round out its first season, beginning Sunday, Dec. 6. The series picks up shortly after the earth-shattering events of POWER (the acclaimed STARZ drama series which recently ended its six-season run) as Tariq St. Patrick grapples with a new world order: his father dead and his mother, Tasha, facing charges for the murder her son committed. Truly on his own for the first time in his life, and with no better options, Tariq turns to the familiar drug game, entangling himself with a cutthroat family headed by Monet Stewart Tejada (played by Grammy®-winner Mary J. Blige). The series also stars Michael Rainey Jr. (Lee Daniels’ The Butler), Naturi Naughton (THE CLIENT LIST), and Method Man (THE WIRE).

December 6 – SHOWTIME’s YOUR HONOR *Limited Series Premiere* (10 p.m. ET)

  • SHOWTIME’s new limited series YOUR HONOR, starring Oscar® nominee and Emmy winner Bryan Cranston (BREAKING BAD), premieres Sunday, Dec. 6 at 10 p.m. ET. The 10-episode legal thriller stars Cranston as Michael Desiato, a respected New Orleans judge whose teenaged son, Adam (Hunter Doohan), is involved in a hit-and-run that leads to a high-stakes game of lies, deceit, and impossible choices. SAG Award winner Michael Stuhlbarg (Call Me By Your Name) stars as Jimmy Baxter, the much feared head of a crime family opposite Emmy and Golden Globe® nominee Hope David (FOR THE PEOPLE) and his wife Gina, who might be even more dangerous than her husband. YOUR HONOR follows a weekly release schedule, with new episodes premiering Sundays at 10 p.m. ET. 

December 10 – HBO Max Original LET THEM ALL TALK *Movie Premiere*

  • LET THEM ALL TALK, a new HBO Max Original Film from Academy Award winning director Steven Soderbergh (Erin Brockovitch), premieres Thursday, Dec. 10. Starring Meryl Streep (BIG LITTLE LIES) as renowned author Alice Hughes, the comedy follows Alice as she goes on a cruise with old friends and her nephew in an effort to find fun and happiness while coming to terms with her troubled past. The film also stars Academy Award-nominee Candice Bergen (BOSTON LEGAL), Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest (Bullets Over Broadway), Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians), and Lucas Hedges (Manchester by the Sea).

December 25 – Crave Original LETTERKENNY *Season 9 Premiere*

  • Season 9 of Crave’s acclaimed Original Comedy Series LETTERKENNY begins streaming on Christmas Day with seven all-new episodes dropping at once. This season kicks off with the Hicks, Skids, and Hockey Players attending an American Buck and Doe following the fight with Dierks (Tyler Hynes). Katy takes her scorched earth dating strategy back to Letterkenny and Gail (Lisa Codrington) gets some action of her own. Meanwhile, the Hockey Players learn about Judaism and the whole town gets really into sleepover activities like movies, board games, and girl talk. Then, a “breastaurant” opens in Letterkenny and Tanis (Tiio Horn) starts her own energy drink.

HIGHLIGHTS

December 4 – WOW!’s DENIS AND ME *New Series*

  • Created by Canadian YouTuber Denis Kopotun (DenisDaily), and animation writer/showrunner Diana Moore, the all-new, short-form animated comedy series DENIS AND ME joins Crave’s WOW! World Kids Collection on Friday, Dec. 4. WOW!’s DENIS AND ME follows the adventures of a quirky 12-year-old named Denis, and his best friend, an enterprising business cat named Sir Meows A Lot. Denis has a big, big heart and is both highly excitable, and highly entertaining, and through his misadventures with Sir Meows A Lot, viewers will see that it’s okay to be awkward, to make mistakes, to try again, to push yourself out of your comfort zone and to always stand up for your best friend. 

December 6 – SHAMELESS *Season 11 Premiere* (9 p.m. ET)

  • The eleventh and final season of SHOWTIME’s hit comedy series SHAMELESS debuts Dec. 6 at 9 p.m. ET. This season finds the Gallagher family and the South Side at a crossroads with changes caused by the COVID pandemic, gentrification, and aging to reconcile. As Frank (William H. Macy) confronts his own mortality and family ties in his alcoholic and drug induced twilight years, Lip (Jeremy Allen White) struggles with the prospect of becoming the family’s new patriarch. Newlyweds Ian (Cameron Monaghan) and Micky (Noel Fisher) are figuring out the rules and responsibilities of being in a committed relationship while Deb (Emma Kenney) embraces her individuality and single motherhood. Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) finds an unlikely new career in law enforcement and Kevin (Steve Howey) and V (Shanola Hampton) struggle to decide whether a hard life on the South Side is worth fighting for. SHAMELESS follows a weekly release schedule, with new episodes premiering Sundays at 9 p.m. ET. 

December 8 – HBO’s 40 YEARS A PRISONER *Documentary Premiere* (9 p.m. ET)

  • Following its World Premiere at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival, 40 YEARS A PRISONER is available for streaming on Tuesday, Dec. 8. The HBO Documentary chronicles the controversial 1978 Philadelphia police raid on the radical back-to-nature group MOVE and the aftermath that led to a son’s decades-long fight to free his parents. The film illuminates the story of a city grappling with racial tension and police brutality with alarming topicality and modern-day relevance. 40 YEARS A PRISONER is directed, produced, and shot by Tommy Oliver (1982) through his company, Confluential Films, with original music by The Roots.

December 11 – SCOOB! *Movie Premiere*

  • Just in time for the holidays, the family friend flick SCOOB! joins Crave on Friday, Dec. 11. Scooby and the gang face their most challenging mystery yet in the animated comedy which stars Will Forte (MacGruber), Mark Wahlberg (ENTOURAGE), Jason Isaacs (Black Hawk Down), Gina Rodriguez (JANE THE VIRGIN), Zac Efron (The Greatest Showman), and Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia!).

December 18 – THE PHOTOGRAPH *Movie Premiere*

  • THE PHOTOGRAPH follows a series of intertwined love stories set in the past and present. When famed photographer Chrstina Eames dies unexpectedly, she leaves her estranged daughter, Mae (Issa Rae, INSECURE) with many questions. When Mae finds a photograph tucked away in a safe-deposit box, she soon finds herself exploring her mother’s early life, which leads to an unexpected romance with Michael (Lakeith Stanfield, Knives Out), an up-and-coming journalist.

December 25 – TROLLS WORLD TOUR *Movie Premiere*

  • When the Queen of the Hard Rock Trolls tries to take over all the Troll kingdoms, Queen Poppy and her friends try different ways to save all the Trolls. The animated comedy stars Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect), Justin Timberlake (Trolls), Rachel Bloom (CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND), James Corden (Cats), Ron Funches (Trolls), Kelly Clarkson (Ugly Dolls), and Mary J. Blige (Rock of Ages).

December 25 – 1917 *Movie Premiere*

  • 1917, the Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA winning film from director Sam Mendes (Skyfall) joins Crave on Christmas Day. The critically acclaimed British war film, which won both Best Motion Picture and Best Director – Motion Picture at the 2020 Golden Globes, follows two young soldiers who are assigned to race against time and deliver a message that will stop 1600 men from walking straight into a deadly trap.

December 25 – FELICITY, Season 1 – 4

  • Beloved 90s romantic-drama series FELICITY joins Crave on Christmas Day. The Golden Globe-winning series, from Emmy-winner JJ. Abrams (WESTWORLD, LOVECRAFT COUNTRY), follows shy, beautiful, Felicity Porter’s (Keri Russell) from the moment she asks Ben Covington (Scott Speedman) to sign her high school yearbook. It’s graduation day, he’s gorgeous, and she’s had a four-year crush on him. Even though the two have never spoken, what he writes is so insightful, so perfect, it persuades Felicity to change the course of her future a future defined by medical school and the dreams of her parents.
