This Sunday, September 13, will mark the launch of THE SUNDAY MAGAZINE with Piya Chattopadhyay on CBC Radio One and the CBC Listen app at 9 a.m. (9:30 NT), featuring a live format.
Offering timely and responsive discussion and reflection on what matters most to Canadians each week, THE SUNDAY MAGAZINE will present a lively, wide-ranging mix of long-form conversations with a diverse range of voices and newsmakers; engaging ideas; cultural exploration; music and more, helping listeners make sense of an ever-changing world each weekend.
“I have long committed myself to elevating voices that aren’t often heard, and to challenging both what we hear and how we hear it. I look forward to continuing that work on Sunday mornings,” said Chattopadhyay in a statement in June when her new role was first announced.
Piya Chattopadhyay has been a leader in broadcasting for two decades as a reporter and host, for both radio and television, in Canada and abroad. She has covered war, natural disasters, politics, healthcare and education. She was Fox News Radio’s Middle East correspondent, based in Jerusalem, and also worked as a guest host for TVO’s The Agenda for several years. For CBC Radio she hosted OUT IN THE OPEN for four successful seasons, and has guest hosted other programs such as THE CURRENT, q, CROSS COUNTRY CHECKUP, CBC Toronto’s #1 morning show,* METRO MORNING, and the CBC News: FRONT BURNER podcast.
CBC Radio was recently honoured with the 2020 Broadcaster of the Year award at the 2020 New York Festivals® Radio Awards.
