TSN heads to Halifax for nine days beginning Saturday as some of the best in Canadian men’s curling face off for the title of national champion at the 2010 TIM HORTONS BRIER, airing live on TSN from March 6-14. Coverage begins this Saturday (March 6) at 2 p.m. ET with Draw #1 and continues all week with more than 65 hours of exclusive live coverage of every draw including playoffs and the final (see complete broadcast schedule below).
In addition to live coverage on TSN, a select game from every draw from this year’s TIM HORTONS BRIER will be available on-demand at TSN.ca following the conclusion of each live television broadcast. TSN has also partnered with CurlTV.com to present live online streaming of select games from the TIM HORTONS BRIER. The live online coverage is available on a pay-per-view basis and includes select non-televised games (schedule available at CurlTV.com).
Jeff Stoughton and his team from Winnipeg return looking to claim the title for a third time after finishing second last year. Standing in his way are three-time BRIER winner Glenn Howard’s Team Ontario and 2006 Olympic gold medallist Brad Gushue’s Team Newfoundland and Labrador. The competition also includes Jamie Koe and his brother Kevin Koe as skips of Team Northwest Territories/Yukon and Team Alberta, respectively.
For the second year in a row, the TIM HORTONS BRIER features two brothers competing as skips. Last year, TSN curling analyst Russ Howard’s Team New Brunswick suffered a loss at the hands of his younger brother Glenn’s Team Ontario. The Koe brothers are scheduled to meet in Draw #15.
In all, 12 teams will be in the running for the title of Canadian champion and the right to represent Canada at this year’s CAPITAL ONE WORLD MEN’S CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
Fresh off their duties at the 2010 Winter Games, TSN’s acclaimed curling broadcast team is on hand in Halifax with Vic Rauter calling the action for afternoon and evening draws alongside analyst and Olympic gold medallist Linda Moore and analyst and former Brier champion Ray Turnbull. The trio is the most recognized and respected curling broadcast team in sports television. Calling the action for the morning draws is Bryan Mudryk with two-time Brier and World Champion and Olympic gold medallist, Russ Howard providing analysis.
TSN’s exclusive curling coverage continues beyond the BRIER with the FORD WORLD WOMEN’S CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP from March 20-28 on TSN, and the CAPITAL ONE WORLD MEN’S CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP on April 10 and 11 on TSN.
