TSN and Bell Media Congratulate Bob McKenzie on Winning 2015 Hockey Hall of Fame NHL Media Award

TSN and Bell Media congratulate Bob McKenzie on being honoured with a Hockey Hall of Fame NHL MediaAward for excellence in hockey journalism.

QUOTES:

“I’m honoured to be recognized with the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award and proud to be a member of the hockey-writing fraternity. All I ever wanted to be was a hockey writer. As a kid, I looked up to the Red Burnetts and Scott Youngs of the world. When I got into the business, I aspired to be as good as John Herbert in junior hockey or Red Fisher or Bob Verdi in the NHL. I have tried every day to bring a hockey writer’s and reporter’s sensibility to whatever job I’m doing, whether it’s been in print, broadcast, or new media.”

–       Bob McKenzie, TSN Hockey Insider

“On behalf of everyone at the TSN and Bell Media family, I’d like to congratulate Bob on this tremendous honour and celebration of his truly remarkable career. As the ultimate Hockey Insider, Bob’s passion, insight, and analysis have revolutionized the way we talk about hockey in North America. TSN’s industry leadership begins with our on-air team, and Bob has set the standard for how we conduct our business.”

–       Stewart Johnston, President of TSN

“Bob is a pioneer in the multi-platform world. He has written the playbook on how a journalist combines the written word and spoken word, television and digital. In doing so, he has elevated the TSN brand and created his own brand.”

–       Mark Milliere, Senior Vice-President of Production, TSN

“I am just thrilled for Bob, he’s so deserving of this. Not only is he a great friend, but he has been the backbone of our hockey coverage for a long time, both in his writing and on TV. He’s a pioneer, maybe the first print reporter in hockey who truly crossed over to become a star on television. All of the panel and everyone behind the scenes at TSN Hockey are extremely proud of him.”

–       James Duthie, Host, Hockey on TSN
