2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony premieres May 5 on HBO Canada

2012 inductees include Beastie Boys, Donovan, Guns N’ Roses, Freddie King, Laura Nyro, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Small Faces/Faces

HBO Canada, a multiplex channel of Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada) and Astral’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada), presents the 27th annual induction ceremony for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The HBO special features long-awaited performances, momentous jams, reunions of former band members and moving speeches from both presenters and inductees. Premiering Saturday, May 5 at 9 p.m. ET/MT, the 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony includes contemporary and legendary recording artists Beastie Boys, Donovan, Guns N’ Roses, Freddie King, Laura Nyro, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Small Faces/Faces.

The annual induction ceremony was conducted April 14 at Cleveland’s legendary Public Hall, just steps away from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. The HBO special features Green Day performing a kinetic rendition of their song Letterbomb, an “In Memoriam” segment, with Ledisi singing a touching version of the Etta James classic At Last, and an all-star jam of Stevie Wonder’sHigher Ground at the end of the show, featuring Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Joe Armstrong, George Clinton, Slash and Ron Wood.

Inductions include: Beastie Boys by Chuck D and LL Cool J; Red Hot Chili Peppers by Chris Rock; Guns N’ Roses by Green Day; Small Faces/Faces by Steve VanZandt; Donovan by John Mellencamp; Laura Nyro by Bette Midler; and Freddie King by Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill of ZZ Top.

In Western Canada, 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be available in High Definition on HBO Canada HD, and on demand and online with HBO Canada On Demand where available through participating broadcasters. In Eastern Canada, 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be available in High Definition and on demand, and on HBO Canada OnLine with Bell TV Online, Rogers On Demand Online and Videotron’s Illico Web.
