Crave announced today that its first original sketch comedy series, THE DESSERT, debuts with all six episodes on Friday, July 7. Created by and Executive Produced by The Platonic Friends (Shane Cunningham, Jonathan Popalis, and Mike Veerman), each episode is a creative barrage of sketch comedy, taking audiences on a ride that perpetually oscillates between calculated and chaotic.
“Weird, wonderful, and so original,” said executive producer, Bruce McCulloch. “I think this could be Canada’s next great sketch show.”
Written by, and co-starring Cunningham, Isabella Campbell, and Jillian Smart, THE DESSERT pushes the boundaries of Canadian sketch comedy with a fresh take on the outrageous. Largely filmed in The Platonic Friends’ hometown of Hamilton, Ont., THE DESSERT is supported with music and theme song from executive producer and Arkells frontman Max Kerman, and presented by Bruce McCulloch.
