FX Canada today released findings from a network-hosted online survey* which examines the male audience of serial soap dramas. Commonly viewed as a television genre geared only to women, the study revealed that Canadian men are also fans of the decadent daytime dramas and they’re not afraid to show it!
The survey results come in just in time for the FX Canada premieres of re-imagined beloved serial dramas All My Children and One Life to Live, debuting today Monday, April 29 atnoon ET/2 p.m. PT and 12:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT, respectively (check local listings.) The series will continue to air weekdays in their respective timeslots, only on FX Canada.
Key survey findings include:
· Almost half of the men surveyed (48%) admitted to watching a serial “soap” series
· Soap viewing no longer has a stigma as all men surveyed said they would openly admit to watching the series
· 1 in 3 men who watch soaps “can’t get enough of the action”
· Only 1 in 4 men who watch soaps do so because they are “forced” by their significant other
*Survey Source: Survey available online from April 19 to April 25 2013 through the Rogers Digital Media network
