Week of June 22-28: Programming Highlights for CTV and the CTV Specialty Channel Group

MUST-WATCH FOR THE WEEK OF JUNE 22

CTV: GLOBAL GOAL: UNITE FOR OUR FUTURE – THE CONCERT airs Saturday, June 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and Crave. With artists to be announced next week, the two-hour virtual broadcast special will feature musical performances and star-studded special appearances celebrating innovators, scientists, health workers, activists, and organizations working to develop and distribute COVID-19 tests, treatments, and vaccines.

CTV Comedy Channel: Filmed at Montréal’s Just For Laughs Festival, THE THROWBACK STARRING WANDA SYKES (8 p.m. ET/PT) kicks off a night of feel-good stand-up premieres, Sunday, June 28, as host Sykes – alongside established comics Jon Dore, Cristela Alonzo, and Andy Kindler – critique their early sets and share humbling stories about their first gigs. Then, the all-new special THIS IS STAND UP (10 p.m. ET/PT) explores the cherished but little understood art form of stand-up comedy, featuring intimate interviews with renowned comedians Judd Apatow, Tiffany Haddish, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, and Bob Saget.

CTV Drama Channel: IN THE DARK continues with an all-new episode, Thursday, June 25 at 9 p.m. ET, as Murphy (Perry Mattfeld, SHAMELESS) helps Max (Casey Deidrick, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) out of a life-or-death situation, while Dean (Rich Somme, MAD MEN) leverages them against each other in an attempt to fix his own bad circumstances.

CTV Life Channel: Opposites may attract but can they decide on a wedding venue? In another new episode of WHERE TO I DO?, host Tommy Smythe is tasked with striking a balance between a groom who prefers the hustle and bustle of the city and a bride who dreams of a wedding in the woods, Tuesday, June 23 at 9 p.m. ET.

CTV Sci-Fi Channel’s beloved band of outcasts are back in action as Season 2 of DOOM PATROL returns Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET, beginning June 25. Premiering with two back-to-back episodes, this season picks up as the misfit superheroes find themselves in the aftermath of betrayal by one of their own while continuing their battle to save a world that wants little to do with them.

CTV Throwback and CTV Movies: Seasons 1 and 2 of animated comedy series THE CRITIC join CTV Throwback on Thursday, June 25. The series follows TV movie critic Jay Sherman (Jon Lovitz, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE), who is forced by his tyrannical media mogul boss to review movies he doesn’t like. The series is packed with film references and parodies, and follows the mean-spirited critic as he navigates his love-life and relationship with his family in New York City.
