Former CTV National News B.C. bureau chief joins CBC News Now anchor Ian Hanomansing
CBC News Network today announced a major new addition to the Vancouver-based team providing national prime-time news coverage, beginning Sept. 17.
Sarah Galashan, former CTV National News B.C. bureau chief, is the new breaking news reporter, joining anchor Ian Hanomansing and the rest of the CBC News Now team based in Vancouver.
“The addition of Sarah to our news team is a real coup,” said Jennifer McGuire, general manager and editor in chief, CBC News. “Having a journalist of her calibre as our breaking news reporter means we will be able to bring viewers first-rate live coverage in prime time.”
“I’ve lived and worked in Western Canada for the better half of my life, and have always felt the stories here are some of the most compelling and important in the country,” said Galashan. “I could not be more excited to be part of this show and to work alongside Ian Hanomansing–a journalist whose work I have always respected and admired.”
Galashan has reported for CTV News since 2001, where she previously served as Alberta bureau chief and later Whistler bureau chief through the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Prior to joining CTV, she reported for Global News, The Vancouver Sun, The Hamilton Spectator and The National Post.
