It’s time to celebrate music at its finest as CTV brings viewers THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS®. Broadcasting live from the Nokia Theatre in L.A. this Sunday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, the host-free event highlights music’s biggest artists performing on one stage. For the fifth year in a row, winners will be determined solely by online voting that has already been completed.THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS® is part of CTV’s extensive roster of the most-watched awards broadcasts in Canada, delivering the biggest names in film, television and music. In addition to THE 64th PRIMETIME EMMY® AWARDS last month, in 2013, CTV is set to broadcast THE 70th GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS®, THE 85th ACADEMY AWARDS ®, THE 2013 JUNO AWARDS, and THE 2013 BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS.
Just announced as performers at this year’s awards are global super-star Justin Bieber, Kelly Clarkson, Carly Rae Jepsen, PSY, The Wanted, and Swizz Beatz featuring Chris Brown and Ludacris. Also taking the stage with performances at this year’s event are AMERICAN IDOL judge and Favourite Female Artist nominee, Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha, No Doubt, Usher, Carrie Underwood, P!nk, Pitbull, Taylor Swift, Linkin Park, and THE VOICE’s Christina Aguilera.
As previously announced, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna both lead THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS® with four nominations individually, while Drake and Justin Bieber join Maroon 5, One Direction, and Usher with three nominations each and Carrie Underwood, Chris Brown, fun., Gotye, J.Cole, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Luke Bryan, and Pitbull all collected two nominations each. This year’s 2012 Artist of the Year nominees are Justin Bieber, Drake, Maroon 5, Katy Perry, and Rihanna. This year also marks the creation of the new Electronic Dance Music Category. Nominees include David Guetta, Calvin Harris, and Skrillex.
