CTV’s CASTLE and DANCING WITH THE STARS: ALL STARS led the network to a #1 finish on the first night of Premiere Week, preliminary overnight data from BBM Canada confirms. Stepping into the top spot of the night with 2 million viewers was the return of hit series CASTLE, growing 6% over last season’s average. The perennial timeslot winner bested the season premiere of HAWAII FIVE-0 (1.9 million; Global/CBS), and the second episode of REVOLUTION (719,000; Citytv/NBC), which dropped 28% from last week. Up 2% with A25-54 against last season’s average, CASTLEwas also the #1 program of the night with the F18-49 and F25-54 demos. Up 26% with total viewers over its Fall 2011 premiere on CTV Two, DANCING WITH THE STARS: ALL STARS won its 8-10 p.m. timeslot in total viewers, A25-54, and A18-49. Against the 8-10 p.m. combination of BONES (1.8 million; Global/FOX) which was down 21% vs. last week, and PARENTHOOD,DANCING WITH THE STARS: ALL STARS finished with a staggering 52% advantage over Global and 97% advantage over Citytv with total viewers, while leading the competition in A25-54 (+26% vs Global and +21% vs Citytv) and A18-49 (+19% vs. Global and +5% vs Citytv).
At 7 p.m. ETALK’s exclusive post-EMMYS coverage was the most-watched episode of 2012 with 817,000 viewers. ETALK outperformed competitors ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT CANADA by 56% (525,000; Global), ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT by 18% (693,000; Global), and more than tripled GEORGE STROUMBOULOPOULOS TONIGHT (269,000; CBC).
