With only 262 days to go until Christmas, CTV announced today exclusive broadcast sponsorship of the The Santa Claus Parade. For the first time in 29 years, The Santa Claus Parade returns to CTV, where it last aired in 1981. The parade will air coast-to-coast on CTV, beginning on November 21, 2010 with the 106th annual edition. Additionally, for the first time in years, the parade will also air live in the Greater Toronto Area, with CTV’s CP24 channel providing exclusive live coverage of what has become the longest running children’s parade in the world and one of the overall largest parades on the planet.
The announcement follows a recently brokered three-year deal that solidifies CTV’s status as the exclusive broadcast media sponsors of the Santa Claus Parade through to 2012.
Since 1905, the Toronto Santa Claus parade has made its way through the streets of downtown Toronto, dazzling spectators with an array of magical floats, bands, and clowns, and of course – Santa – delivering a joyous holiday occasion not to be missed. Now in its 106th year, The Santa Claus Parade is by far one of the most-attended parades in Toronto and one of the largest in the world.
“This is a joyful homecoming for CTV,” said Susanne Boyce, President Creative, Content and Channels, CTV. “Our coverage of the Parade will strive to create lasting memories in the hearts of children of all ages for this historic holiday tradition.”
“We are delighted to partner with Canada’s #1 network for coverage of The Santa Claus Parade,” said Peter Beresford, President and Board Member, The Santa Claus Parade. “CTV has shown that it can unite viewers at home and around the world with unparalleled coverage of historic live events, and we look forward to offering a parade that ushers in the holiday season like no other event in the country.”
Additional broadcast details for The Santa Claus Parade on CTV will be announced in the coming months.
