CTV Steps Into Spring with All-New Episodes, April 18 – 30

CTV’s Spring fever continues through April as THE 2010 JUNO AWARDS shine from St. John’s, NL, and Sir Elton John, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood and The Black Eyed Peas join AMERICAN IDOL’s annual charity show “Idol Gives Back”. SPECTACLE: ELVIS COSTELLO WITH… comes to a close with the first of a two-part season finale featuring Bruce Springsteen. Then, the end of the month brings new episodes of HICCUPS, DAN FOR MAYOR, LOST, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, THE BRIDGE, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and GREY’S ANATOMY.

Programming highlights for April 18 – 30 on CTV include:

Sunday, April 18

7 p.m. – DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES – “We All Deserve to Die” – NEW EPISODE Determined to derail son Preston’s (Brent Kinsman) marriage, Lynette (Felicity Huffman) discovers the truth about her future daughter-in-law. Meanwhile, Bree (Marcia Cross) begins to question Sam’s (Sam Page) motives and, unbeknownst to Angie (Drea de Matteo), Danny (Beau Mirchoff) meets Patrick (guest star John Barrowman, TORCHWOOD) for the first time.

8 p.m. – THE 2010 JUNO AWARDS
The country comes together to celebrate the best and brightest in Canadian music in St. John’s, NL. For the first time ever, the JUNO Awards hosts an outdoor component on George Street, adding to the hype that surrounds the event. Featuring performances by Michael Bublé, Drake, Justin Bieber, K’NAAN and many more, as well as a sizzling lineup of presenters including VANCOUVER 2010 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES gold medalists Alexandre Bilodeau and Jon Montgomery, Hedley, Dallas Green, Barenaked Ladies and Lights among others, the night captures the essence and importance of homegrown music.

Monday, April 19

8 p.m. – HICCUPS – “Watch and Learn” – NEW EPISODE
Crystal (Emily Perkins) redecorates Millie’s (Nancy Robertson) condo, while Millie and Taylor (David Ingram) try and beat her neighbour at his own game. Stan (Brent Butt) tries to prove his abilities to a suddenly skeptical Joyce (Laura Soltis).

8:30 p.m. – DAN FOR MAYOR – “The Disc Compact” – NEW EPISODE
Dan (Fred Ewanuick) and Jeff (Paul Bates) get their hands on the campaign platform of their main opponent, but are faced with a moral dilemma. Also, Dan gets a new roommate.

10 p.m. – CSI: MIAMI – “Backfire” – NEW EPISODE
A victim’s spirit won’t leave Calleigh (Emily Procter) alone until she finds justice for his murder.

Tuesday, April 20

8 p.m. – AMERICAN IDOL – “Top 7 Perform” – LIVE PERFORMANCE EPISODE
The seven remaining finalists take the stage to perform live for the nation.

9 p.m. – LOST – “The Last Recruit” – NEW EPISODE
Alliances are forged and broken as the Locke (Terry O’Quinn) and Jack’s (Matthew Fox) camps merge.

10 p.m. – LAW & ORDER: SVU – “Beef” – NEW EPISODE
After a young woman is sexually assaulted and murdered, Detectives Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Stabler (Chris Meloni) track down the woman’s boyfriend – their first suspect – but learn that he is a devout vegan who wouldn’t hurt a fly. As the case progresses, Benson goes undercover to retrace the victim’s footsteps in hopes of identifying her killer.

Wednesday, April 21

8 p.m. – AMERICAN IDOL – “Idol Gives Back” – LIVE TWO-HOUR SPECIAL RESULTS EPISODE
AMERICAN IDOL once again hosts “Idol Gives Back”, a music celebration raising awareness and benefiting various U.S. and international charities. The two-hour episode features performances and appearances by Sir Elton John, Alicia Keys, The Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox, Jeff Beck and Joss Stone, Mary J. Blige and former AMERICAN IDOL winner Carrie Underwood. Additionally, the seven remaining finalists find out who is safe and who will be sent home as one more contestant is eliminated.

Thursday, April 22

7 p.m. – THE VAMPIRE DIARIES – “Miss Mystic Falls” – NEW EPISODE
At the Founder’s Day Gala, Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Caroline (Candice Accola) compete for the title of “Miss Mystic Falls” against other girls from town, including Amber Bradley (guest star Spencer Locke, COUGAR TOWN). Elena is happy to have Bonnie (Katerina Graham) back in town, but Bonnie still has issues to work through. Meanwhile, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) discovers that Stefan (Paul Wesley) is hiding a dangerous secret that could impact everyone in town.

9 p.m. – CSI – “World’s End” – NEW EPISODE
When a student is discovered murdered at Lindsey’s (Kay Panabaker) school, the investigation takes a sharp turn when the CSIs uncover an unlikely connection between the boy’s death and atrocities of the past.

10 p.m. – THE MENTALIST – “Blood Money” – NEW EPISODE
When Patrick Jane’s (Simon Baker) sneaky conduct causes the case of a confessed hit man to be tossed out of court, his annoyed CBI team must start the investigation over from scratch.

Friday, April 23

10 p.m. – THE BRIDGE – “Painted Ladies” – NEW EPISODE
Answering a call for “officer down,” Frank (Aaron Douglas) discovers the victim is not a cop but a prostitute dressed as a cop. Investigating further, Frank uncovers an escort ring run by a ruthless vice cop.

8 p.m. – CANADIAN OLYMPIC HALL OF FAME- CELEBRATING CANADIAN EXCELLENCE – SPECIAL PRESENTATION
The Canadian Olympic Committee further unites Canada following the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games with the induction evening at the Bell Centre in Montreal. More than 1,200 guests welcome 2010 inductees kayaker Caroline Brunet, sprinter Bruny Surin, speed skater Susan Auch, builders Walter Sieber, Peter Lougheed and Carol Anne Letheren (posthumously), and athletics coach Paul Poce as they officially enter the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame. ETALK’s Ben Mulroney hosts the evening’s events which include musical performances by Sarah McLachlan, Tom Cochrane, Ginette Reno, the Canadian Tenors, Simple Plan, and singers Annie Villeneuve and Nikki Yanofsky, accompanied by composer Stephan Moccio who will perform CTV’s Official Song for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games I Believe/J’imagine.

10 p.m. – SPECTACLE: ELVIS COSTELLO WITH… – “Bruce Springsteen, Part 1” – NEW EPISODE
In the first installment of this two-part season finale, Elvis Costello sits down with Bruce Springsteen and, with his guitar in hand, he opens up about his pre-E Street Band bands. He also chats about his early and current inspirations and the resurgence of New Jersey. E Street Band members Nils Lofgren and Roy Bittan sit in for a couple of songs.

Sunday, April 25

7 p.m. – HUMAN TARGET – “Salvage and Reclamation” – NEW EPISODE
Chance (Mark Valley) reunites with a fiery former flame when he is called to South America to rescue an archeologist whose discovery of a lost treasure makes him the target of a South American army and a deadly bounty hunter.

8 p.m. – THE AMAZING RACE – “I Feel Like I’m In, Like, Sicily” – NEW EPISODE
After noodling their way through their first Roadblock, teams are forced to complete a second Roadblock, and the fate of two teams lies in the hands of confused cabbies in Shanghai.

9 p.m. – DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES – “Epiphany” – NEW EPISODE
The Fairview strangler has been living among the women of Wisteria Lane. He once caught Gaby (Eva Longoria Parker) and Carlos (Ricardo Chavira) during an intimate moment, Bree (Marcia Cross) offered him a job and some dating advice, Susan (Teri Hatcher) encouraged his passion for art and Lynette (Felicity Huffman) shows him some kindness and generosity.

Monday, April 26

8 p.m. – HICCUPS – “Hippy Anniversary” – NEW EPISODE
Millie’s (Nancy Robertson) anniversary gift puts Stan (Brent Butt) and Anna (Paula Rivera) at odds with each other, while Taylor (David Ingram) and Joyce (Laura Soltis) try to quietly take on a case of copyright infringement.

8:30 p.m. – DAN FOR MAYOR – “The Podium Conundra” – NEW EPISODE
Jeff (Paul Bates) has trouble convincing the other Mayoral candidates that Dan (Fred Ewanuick) should take part in the upcoming televised debate, while Dan and Brianna (Agam Darshi) decide to go public with their romance.

Tuesday, April 27

8 p.m. – AMERICAN IDOL – “Top 6 Perform” – NEW LIVE PERFORMANCE EPISODE
The remaining six competitors compete for a spot in the elite Final Five.

10 p.m. – LAW & ORDER: SVU – “Torch” – NEW EPISODE
When two sisters are killed in a fire, Detectives Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Stabler (Chris Meloni) are confused about why they are called to investigate. They soon discover that Stabler’s old partner, ADA Jo Marlowe (guest star Sharon Stone, Alpha Dog), has been put on the case because the two victims were so young and she’s has enlisted the duo to help. As the investigation continues, Benson and Stabler find that the case might be more suited to their department than anyone originally assumed.

Wednesday, April 28

The final five finalists are revealed.

Thursday, April 29

7 p.m. – THE VAMPIRE DIARIES – “Blood Brothers” – NEW EPISODE
While Stefan (Paul Wesley) struggles to come to terms with his past, both he and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) reveal parts of their history to Elena (Nina Dobrev), until she finally learns the truth about how they became vampires. Meanwhile, Damon and Alaric (Matt Davis) try to find a mysterious invention before Johnathan (guest star David Anders, HEROES) does.

8 p.m. – CSI – “Take My Life, Please” – NEW EPISODE
A legendary comic from Las Vegas is set to reunite with his partner on stage for one night only, until one half of the famous duo is found dead. Tim Conway (YES, DEAR) guest stars as legendary comic Knuckles Pratt and Jennifer Tilly (FAMILY GUY) guest stars as his wife, Terpsie Pratt.

9 p.m. – GREY’S ANATOMY – “Hook, Line and Sinner” – NEW EPISODE
Sloan (Levin Rambin) returns to Mark’s (Eric Dane) apartment, just as she’s going into labour. Teddy (Kim Raver), Mark and the still-fighting Callie (Sara Ramierz) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) are there to help with the birth and to get Mark through his grandson’s pending adoption. Meanwhile, the team works on a crab boat captain who has been stabbed with a giant shark hook.

When a media mogul is murdered, Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and the CBI team investigate cult leader Bret Stiles (guest star Malcolm McDowell, ENTOURAGE), who may have had an axe to grind following the publication of a critical story about his group.
