Four Bakers Remain Following International Week on The Great Canadian Baking Show

Jasmine Linton, 22, a university student from Richmond Hill, Ontario said “adios” to the judges, hosts and remaining bakers on this week’s episode of THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW. Meanwhile, Regina, Saskatchewan’s Jodi Robinson, 33, received international acclaim for her worldly creations, earning the title of Star Baker. This week, the bakers were challenged to explore flavours, textures and techniques from around the world with a series of International favourites. The Signature Bake had the bakers put their own spin on the popular Latin American treat, Tres Leches Cake, a light sponge soaked in three kinds of milk. The Technical Challenge saw the bakers create a Norwegian Kransekake, a tower of almond biscuit rings used in Nordic celebrations. Finally, the Showstopper featured Cheesecakes of the World, allowing bakers to take influence from countries across the globe that celebrate cheese in cake form, whether sweet or savoury.

As Linton leaves the tent, the following bakers remain:

●        Colin Asuncion, 30, a marketing manager from Toronto, ON

  •  Chris Koo, 30, a family physician from Edmonton, AB

●        Jodi Robson, 33, a table games dealer from Regina, SK

●        Nataliia Shevchenko, 33, an administrative assistant from Edmonton, AB

In the next episode of THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW, the remaining four bakers face Pie Week where they must excel with their pastry skills in three pie challenges to make it to the finale. The baking continues next Wednesday, October 30 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC and the free CBC Gem streaming service.

THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW brings together 10 amateur bakers from across the country to compete in a series of themed culinary challenges that celebrate their diverse backgrounds, families and communities. Each of the eight one-hour episodes features three rounds: the Signature Bake, the Technical Bake and the Show Stopper. After the baked goods are tasted and critiqued, the judges decide the week’s Star Baker, and who will be sent home. The final three bakers will compete for the Great Canadian Baking Show title.
