Mohawk symphonic conductor, John Kim Bell returns to the podium after 12 years to celebrate Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre’s Planet IndigenUS Festival. Maestro Bell, the world’s first professionally trained symphonic conductor of First Nations heritage, formerly associated with the Toronto Symphony and New York Philharmonic, was the featured performer conducting a full program for Harbourfront Centre’s Planet IndigenUS Festival.

Maestro Bell featured the talents of two sopranos of Aboriginal heritage, Ms. Melody Mercredi and Ms. Mavis Callihoo, and was accompanied by the 72 member Planet IndigenUS Festival Orchestra. This live event production was staged entirely by Harbourfront Centre in consultation with Maestro John Kim Bell who determined the program, guest artists, and format for the evening’s performance. The concert featured the works of Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Bernstein, Johann Strauss, Puccini, and one of Maestro Bell’s own compositions.
