This November, Oprah’s Favorite Things returns to television, and for the first time ever, Canadian viewers will have a chance to win select items during the premiere airing on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network (Canada). OWN also takes a look at the tough realities faced by the families of active soldiers in Married to the Army: Alaska. Plus, new episodes of Oprah’s Next Chapter continue with even more intimate celebrity interviews and viewers can tune-in for special presentations of The Oprah Winfrey Show with The Best of Dr. Oz.

 

OPRAH’S FAVORITE THINGS: 2012 – SPECIAL PREMIERE

This November, Oprah’s Favorite Things returns to kick-off the holiday season in a brand-new way. With the help of O Magazine’s editor-at-large Gayle King and creative director Adam GlassmanOprah enlists famed designers Michael Kors and Tory Burch, along with celebrity chef Curtis Stone, for their insight into this season’s hottest, newest, most delectable items of the year put together for the magazine’s O List (on stands November 6). From the electronic gadget that everyone will be clamoring for and sweet treats that can put anyone in the holiday spirit to a trip to an exotic island locale and a stylish way to get organized, Oprah’s Favorite Things is jam-packed with great gift ideas just in time for the holidays including items you can only see in the television special. In addition, for the first time and in a way like never before, Oprah and her team honour a group of military spouses from each branch of the Armed Forces who have no idea that they are about to get the surprise of their lives. During the two-hour event, U.S. and Canadian viewers for the first time in the history of Favorite Things, will also have the opportunity to watch and win select items featured within segments of the show. By texting the correct key word to a short code at designated points only throughout the premiere airing Sunday, November 18 from 8-10 p.m. ET and 5-7 p.m. PT, viewers will be entered into a drawing to win some of Oprah’s Favorite Things from 2012. Airing Sundays at 9 p.m. Oprah’s Next Chapter follows Oprah Winfrey as she steps outside of the studio for riveting, in-depth conversations with newsmakers, celebrities, thought leaders and real-life families.


MARRIED TO THE ARMY: ALASKA 
– SERIES PREMIERE

Alaska is home to more than 10,000 active-duty U.S. soldiers, about 7,500 of whom are currently deployed in Afghanistan. The war in Iraq may be over, but for those families whose loved ones are still gone, life is challenging. For the women whose husbands serve in the US Army, “deployment” is not just an abstract word heard on the evening news. It’s real, it’s tough and it turns their world upside down. Military wives find themselves in a unique sisterhood that only they can understand. THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW: BEST OF DR. OZ – PREMIERE

This November, OWN will air The Oprah Winfrey Show featuring a selection of classic Dr. Oz appearances all month long. The Best of Dr. Oz revisits popular medical subjects that enlighten and inform guests from dieting to aging to the “Ultimate Health Checklist”. The Oprah Winfrey Show: Best of Dr. Oz airs Monday to Friday at 4 p.m.from Monday, November 5 to Friday, November 30.


IYANLA: FIX MY LIFE – NEW EPISODES

Iyanla Vanzant goes behind closed doors and deep inside the most private parts of people’s lives for emotional, riveting conversations. Vanzant has had a unique life filled with many personal struggles that she has overcome and used to become stronger. ANNA & KRISTINA’S GROCERY BAG – NEW EPISODES

Season 4 of the award-winning series, Anna & Kristina’s Grocery Bag continues with new episodes all month long this November. Every week, Gemini-nominated hostsAnna Wallner and Kristina Matisic test a new cookbook, try out the recipes, analyze the ingredients and brush up on food prep techniques. Their goal? To find out if the average home cook can live up to what the cookbooks promise. In the process, Anna and Kristina race against the clock as they strive to wow chefs and celebrity judges with precisely executed meals. On Tuesday, November 28, Anna and Kristina travel to Newfoundland to attempt traditional East-Coast fare. Their trip is packed with East-Coast adventures including moose tracking, cod fishing and an appearance by Newfoundland-born actress, comedian and political satirist Mary Walsh (This Hour Has 22 Minutes). In addition, this month’s episodes feature Trisha Yearwood’s Home Cooking cookbook and the Engine 2 Diet cookbook, with special guest celebrity personal trainer Harley Pasternak.
