TV GORD’S WHAT’S ON FOR THE WEEK OF June 5-11, 2016

Devious Maids, UnREAL and Hell On Wheels return, David Schwimmer’s Feed the Beast premieres, and documentaries on O.J. Simpson and “straight outta” Compton highlight this week. Happy viewing!

Sunday

Feed the Beast – 10:05pm on AMC – Series Premiere

David Schwimmer and Jim Sturgess star as best friends Tommy Moran and Dion Patras trying to make their dream of opening an upscale restaurant a reality. Dion’s secret debt to the mob delves the friends (Get it? “Friends”?) into the seedier side of New York City. (The second episode airs on Tuesday at 10pm, its regular time slot.

Monday

Devious Maids – 9pm on Lifetime – 4th Season Premiere

Eva Longoria guests as herself (or a heightened version of herself) starring in a movie version of Marisol’s novel, but the main focus of the episode is whose lives are forever changed by the explosion at the Powell mansion.

UnREAL – 10pm on Lifetime – 2nd Season Premiere

Thursday

Winsanity – 9pm on GSN – Game Show Premiere

Donald Faison (Scrubs) hosts this new game show where contestants must stack facts in numerical order to win prizes for themselves and audience members.

Streets of Compton – 9pm on A&E – Parts 1 and 2 of a three-part documentary (Part 3 airs next week)

On the heels of the success of the movie Straight Outta Compton, this documentary aims to tell the history of the Los Angeles suburb through the eyes of past and present residents. Original music from The Game will highlight the project.

Saturday

People’s List – 8pm on ABC – Newsmagazine Premiere

Actor Jerry O’Connell and former MTV personality SuChin Pak host this television version of People Magazine.

O.J.: Made in America – 8 to 10pm on ABC/CTV – Biography/Documentary

From the ESPN team behind the outstanding 30 For 30 series of documentaries, ABC presents the first two hours of a seven-and-a-half hour documentary that follows the entire life of O.J. Simpson, not just the trial. The rest of the project will run in the U.S. on ESPN, but in Canada, CTV and TSN will run the whole thing (future editions on Wednesday nights).

Hell On Wheels – 9pm on AMC – 5th and Final Mid-season Premiere

The final seven episodes of this drama about the construction of the American railroad (although it’s filmed in Alberta) finally begin! If you want to see the first half of season 5, start watching at 8am.
