The explosive series premiere of the conspiracy thriller The Event on Citytv launched to massive audiences in Toronto making it Monday night’s most watched new show. The Event debut beat out the series premieres of Hawaii Five-O and Lone Star and the return of House and Dancing with the Stars.


Viewers tuned in to Citytv as events were set in motion to unearth a global conspiracy that could ultimately change the fate of mankind. The Event took the #1 spot in Toronto garnering an impressive 8.7 rating in the key demographic of Adults 25-54.

An Encore presentation of the series premiere episode will air Saturday, September 25 at 8pm ET/PT (7pm CT, 9pm MT) on Citytv (s/NBC).

As the shockwave of the plane dissipates, President Martinez’s (Blair Underwood) staff must work quickly to assess what happened and how to respond. Director of National Intelligence, Blake Sterling, (Željko Ivanek) locks down Sophia (Laura Innes) for interrogation. The conspiracy widens, engulfing FBI Agent Collier (guest star Heather McComb) and Carter (guest star D. B. Sweeney), a mercenary with questionable ties. Meanwhile, a shadowy figure, Thomas (Clifton Collins, Jr.), emerges with knowledge of the detainees and their plan. Jason Ritter, Sarah Roemer, Ian Anthony Dale, Scott Patterson, Taylor Cole, Lisa Vidal, and Bill Smitrovich also star. Michael Whaley, Angel Desai and Wes Ramsey guest star.
