CBC’S Coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games for Day 5 (Wednesday)

CBC’s coverage continues as medal events will be contested in eleven sports in Rio on Wednesday. Canada’s women’s basketball team will look to remain atop the standings in pool play when it tries for a third straight win to open the tournament. They take on Senegal at 4:45 p.m. ET (1:45 p.m. PT) on CBC. In the pool, Canadian swimmers will hope to be in the mix in the finals for the men’s 100m freestyle (Santo Condorelli) and 200m breaststroke (Ashton Bauman) and the women’s 200m butterfly (Audrey Lacroix).

Coverage will be available on TV across CBC, TSN, TSN2, Sportsnet and Sportsnet ONE. Viewers can also watch CBC’s live streaming coverage at cbc.ca/olympics, on CBC’s app for Rio 2016 for iOS and Android devices and in virtual reality using the CBC Olympic Games Virtual Reality app.

Basketball

  • 4:45 p.m. – Women’s Basketball: Senegal vs. Canada
    • Canada sits tied with the USA in Group B, each with two wins and no losses. The women’s team will look to improve their record to 3-0 when they face winless Senegal.

    • Canada’s Tara Whitten, Karol-Ann Canuel and Leah Kirchman will compete in the women’s competition. The USA’s Kristin Armstrong is a two-time gold medallist and is considered the favourite yet again.
    • On the men’s side, Canada will be represented by Antoine Duchesne, Hugo Houle and Mike Woods
