Earlier tonight on CTV, host Leah Miller announced live that CHARLENE Hart, 24, from Abbotsford, BC and EDGAR Gilbert-Reyes, 22, from Calgary, AB, received the lowest number of the country’s votes and had been eliminated from SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA. The eight remaining dancers will take to the stage on Wednesday, October 13 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV (go to ctv.ca to confirm local listings).
The two girls and two guys who received the lowest number of votes following last night’s countrywide poll were girls CHARLENE and NATHALIE, and guys EDGAR and SEBASTIAN. With voting now based on individual competitors instead of couples, each dancer had the opportunity to perform a solo of their choice, but for two competitors, it would be their last chance to dance for the country. In the end, it was announced live that CHARLENE Hart, 24, a Contemporary Jazz dancer from Abbotsford, BC, who danced a Contemporary number with MACKENZIE this week and EDGAR Gilbert-Reyes, 22, a Hip-Hop dancer from Calgary, AB who danced a Hip-Hop routine with AMANDA this week, received the lowest number of votes and would be going home.
Opening tonight’s show was a synch hustle choreographed by Maria Torres. In true 1970s style, the dancers performed in partners with difficult lifts and fast footwork. Dressed in brightly coloured costumes, the dancers got in the groove to “Troglodyte (Cave Man)” by Jimmy Castor Bunch and “Disco Inferno” by The Trammps.
