The Rio 2016 Olympic Games may be nearing the end but several medals are still on the line for Canadian athletes on Friday. Canada’s women’s soccer team will battle the host Brazilians for bronze, while the men’s and women’s 4 x 100m relay teams will be looking to add more medals to Canada’s total in Athletics.
Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, ON, enters Friday’s equestrian jumping individual final as the top seed along with mount Fine Lady 5. The 2008 Olympic Games champion will look to return to the podium in Rio. On the water, Halifax’s Mark de Jonge will be looking to secure a place in the men’s kayak singles 200m final with good performances in Friday’s heats. In addition, Coquitlam, BC’s Tory Nyhaug is Canada’s lone representative in the cycling BMX semifinal round.
