CTV’s broadcast of THE 2013 JUNO AWARDSgarnered 1.91 million viewers last night, growing 24% from last year’s broadcast (1.54 million) and winning the night among younger viewers aged 18-34. Hosted by the charismatic Michael Bublé, the two-hour broadcast from Regina’s Brandt Centre is the third most-watched JUNO AWARDS on record on CTV*. Nearly seven million viewers watched some or all of the broadcast, which peaked with 2.5 million viewers during Michael Bublé’s first television performance of his new single “It’s A Beautiful Day.” The full show, including the popular opening segment featuring appearances by Russell Peters, Kelly Ripa, Gerard Butler, and Dr. Phil, is available on demand now at Junos.CTV.ca and on the CTV App.

• CTV led every hour from 7-11 p.m. Sunday night with the Top 3 audiences of the day with total viewers, A25-54, and A18-49: THE AMAZING RACE, THE 2013 JUNO AWARDS, and THE MENTALIST.
• Year-over-year, THE JUNO AWARDS were also up double-digits with A25-54 (+15%), and saw double-digit growth among total viewers in all markets.
• THE 2013 JUNO AWARDS was the #1 non-sports program in core prime with total viewers in all markets.

CTV extended the JUNO Awards experience online, on Facebook, and on theCTV iPad App, with viewers adding thousands of comments and interactions about last night’s broadcast. CTV’s broadcast of the THE 2013 JUNO AWARDSwas also a hot topic on Twitter. The hashtag #JUNOAwards has now been trending for an amazing 24 hours. As of this afternoon, it was still in the Top 5. Other topics trending last night included k.d. lang, Leonard Cohen, Michael Bublé, and Marianas Trench. At 8:30 p.m. ET, six of the Top 10 trending topics, including #CTV, were JUNO Awards related. In total there were 11 JUNO-related topics trending during the broadcast.

Regina pulled out all the stops for last night’s broadcast, which featured performances by multiple award-winner Carly Rae Jepsen; JUNO Award winners Marianas Trench, who literally flew over the crowd; Metric, fresh from their stint at Cochella; Saskatchewan natives The Sheepdogs, who rocked the enthusiastic crowd; Billy Talent, who was joined on stage by award-winner Serena Ryder after she kicked off the broadcast with her hit single, “Stompa,” and up-and-comer Hannah Georgas in her JUNO AWARDS debut. Additionally Classified with David Myles and The Tenors took to the stage as musical presenters. Anne Murray made a rare appearance to induct her friend, k.d. lang, who also performed, into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The induction was followed by congratulatory messages from the likes of Tony Bennett, Leonard Cohen, Jane Siberry, and Shania Twain. The audience took to their feet after lang’s thank you speech, which referred to how much she loved her country. Bublé poignantly closed the show surrounded by audience members for a special rendition of his song “Home.”
