CTV’s new medical crime-drama THE MOB DOCTOR took out its closest competitor BIG BROTHER last night when an average of 1.3 million viewers tuned into the stand-alone series premiere, hitting the streets as the #1 television program in Canada Sunday night. The episode saw growth in its second half-hour with total viewers and all key demos, and delivered 35% more viewers than a simulcast episode of BIG BROTHER (971,000; Global/CBS). Head-to-head from 9-9:30 p.m. its lead over BIG BROTHER jumped to 43%, while in the hotly contested market of Toronto, THE MOB DOCTOR won its timeslot with total viewers and the key A18-49 and A25-54 demos.THE MOB DOCTOR moves to a special pre-EMMY® AWARDS timeslot onSept. 23 at 7 p.m. ET on CTV before settling back into its regular Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot the following week (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times).
In next week’s all-new episode entitled “Family Secrets” (Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CTV), Constantine (William Forsythe) arranges a meeting for Dr. Grace Devlin (Jordana Spiro) with Paul Moretti’s (guest star Michael Rappaport) former rival, who is plagued by an undetermined—but perhaps fatal—medical condition. Meanwhile, Grace and Brett (Zach Gilford) treat a young bride with emotional problems.
