Crazy Ex-Girlfriend – 8pm on The CW/10pm on Showcase/Thursday at 10pm on Global – Series Premiere

Rebecca Bunch seems to have it all. She lives in Manhattan. She’s a law partner. The only things missing are love and happiness, so she chucks it all and moves to West Covina, California, to start a new life and to find her soul-mate, Josh, who dumped her in high school. (This series was originally planned to be a half-hour comedy for the Showtime in the U.S., but when they dropped it, The CW grabbed it and turned it into an hour-long comedy-drama…making several changes along the way. Hopefully, too many cooks haven’t spoiled the broth.)

Fargo – 10 to 11:05pm on FX – 2nd Season Premiere

This anthology series—like American Horror Story—returns with a new premise, delving into the past of season one’s character of Lou Solverson (played then by Keith Carradine). The year is 1979, and Lou (Patrick Wilson) is a recently returned Vietnam vet who investigates a crime involving a local gang and crime syndicate. He is also assigned to protect Republican Presidential candidate Ronald Reagan on his campaign stop in Fargo. Among the stars this season: Ted Danson, Jean Smart, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons (Friday Night Lights, Breaking Bad), Nick Offerman, Brad Garrett, Kieran Culkin, Adam Arkin and Bruce Campbell as Ronald Reagan. (This was my favourite new series of 2014!)

Returning Shows:

Wednesday

The Romeo Section – 9pm on CBC – Series Premiere

This spy-thriller from Executive Producer Chris Haddock (Da Vinci’s Inquest, Intelligence) follows spymaster Professor Wolfgang McGee, an academic who also manages a roster of espionage assets known as Romeo or Juliet spies in Vancouver. They are known by those names for their use of the power of seduction to extract secrets from their targets.

Thursday

Nathan For You – 10pm on MUCH – 3rd Season Premiere

TripTank – 10:30pm on MUCH – 2nd Season Premiere

Friday

Truth Be Told – 8:30pm on NBC – Series Premiere

Mark Paul Gosselaar, Vanessa Lachey, Tone Bell and Bresha Webb star in this sitcom as best friends and neighbours who over-analyze and obsessive over everything in their lives. Sounds wacky (either wacky or too annoying to last long).
