Hollywood Suite is thrilled to announce it will be the exclusive Canadian broadcaster of the 36th annual Film Independent Spirit Awards. Hosted by Saturday Night Live’s Melissa Villaseñor, the ceremony will air live April 22 at 10pm ET on Hollywood Suite.
This year’s Best Feature nominees are: FIRST COW, NEVER RARELY SOMETIMES ALWAYS, MINARI, MA RAINEY’S BLACK BOTTOM and NOMADLAND. Acting nominees include Julia Garner (THE ASSISTANT), Riz Ahmed (THE SOUND OF METAL), Carey Mulligan (PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN), Nicole Beharie (MISS JUNETEENTH) and Benedict Wong (NINE DAYS). The 2021 Robert Altman Award is going to the team behind ONE NIGHT IN MIAMI (including Regina King, who made her directorial debut with the film).
An exciting new addition in 2021, new Spirit Awards categories have been added to honour significant achievements in television, including: Best New Scripted Series, Best New Non-Scripted or Documentary Series, Best Male Performance, Best Female Performance and Best Ensemble Cast. LITTLE AMERICA and UNORTHODOX lead the nominees in the TV categories with three nominations each.
