CTV Channel Group Programming Highlights: Oct. 19-25

MUST-WATCH FOR THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 19

CTV: THE CONNERS returns to CTV in a special timeslot on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT, paired with back-to-back episodes of THE GOLDBERGS, also airing at a special time beginning at 8 p.m. ET/PT. In the all-new season of THE CONNERS – Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky, and D.J. – grapple with parenthood, dating, pregnancy, financial pressures, and aging in working-class America. Through it all – the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, and the breakdowns – the family prevails with love, humor, and perseverance. In the all-new season of THE GOLDBERGS, the VCR-loving, mixtape-making, spandex-wearing Goldbergs are back! For geeky and movie-obsessed youngest child Adam Goldberg (Sean Giambrone), his wonder years were spent documenting the hilarious and awkward antics of his colourful family. The new season finds the siblings fighting off more huggies, snuggies, and nubbies, as they navigate what it means to grow up as a Goldberg.

CTV2: In his new documentary, BRETT KISSEL: LIVE AT THE DRIVE-IN, premiering Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, Brett Kissel shows how the idea of bringing drive-in concerts to Canada became a reality – from the video calls with his crew, socially-distanced rehearsals, to finally being back on a stage, separated from his band with plexiglass partitions. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, Brett Kissel had spent more time in his tour bus than at home for nearly a decade. The multiple JUNO and CCMA Award winner visited every single province and territory on the most extensive tour in Canadian music history, headlined the biggest country music festivals, opened for Garth Brooks and Brad Paisley, and toured throughout the US and Europe. In June, Brett Kissel set out to bring live music back to Canada. Nearly 10,000 country fans filled a casino parking lot in Edmonton, AB, listening on their car radio dials, raising over $70,000 for local foodbanks, and honking their horns in appreciation. With eight sold-out shows over two days, this was the beginning of the return of live music in Canada. This is the story about how music brought everyone together.

CTV Comedy Channel’s CORNER GAS ANIMATED continues with an all-new episode, Monday, Oct. 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, as Davis (Lorne Cardinal) accidentally totals the police cruiser and tries to cover it up. Meanwhile, Hank (Fred Ewanuick) and Wanda (Nancy Robertson) work on solving Dog River’s rat problem, as Emma (Corrine Koslo) struggles to get Oscar (Eric Peterson) on board with spring cleaning.

CTV Drama Channel: This Halloween season, viewers can get sleuthing with the movie premiere of AURORA TEAGARDEN MYSTERIES: REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO DEADLY on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 9 p.m. ET. The newest chapter of the murder mystery film franchise picks up as Aurora (Candace Cameron Bure) and her fiancé Nick (Niall Matter, The Predator) attend her 20-year high school reunion, only for it to turn deadly once Aurora discovers the former prom king’s dead body floating in the hotel pool. While investigating three suspects along with help from her Real Murders Club, Aurora is also faced with her past and must wrestle with the question: will marriage change what she loves about her relationship with Nick?

CTV Life Channel: Following the series debut of CTV’s SUPERMARKET SWEEP reboot on Oct. 18, viewers can head across the pond for the series premiere of SUPERMARKET SWEEP UK, the British spin-off, with back-to-back episodes on Wednesday, Oct. 21 beginning at 9 p.m. ET. Hosted by TV presenter Ryan Clark-Neal (CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER), each one-hour episode sees three pairs of shoppers compete in the ultimate supermarket challenge in hopes of taking home a cart full of cash.

CTV Sci-Fi Channel: SUPERNATURAL continues its 15th and final season with an all-new episode, on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. ET, as Sam (Jared Padalecki, Friday the 13th) and Dean (Jensen Ackles, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) are asked to investigate the murder of a childhood friend. Calling them back to a motel from their past, the perplexed brothers go through a case they thought they had solved a long time ago.

CTV Movies: The horror-thriller film Quarantine joins CTV Movies on Thursday, Oct. 22. A television reporter, Angela (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman Scott (Steve Harris) are assigned to follow firefighters Jake (Jay Hernandez, MAGNUM P.I.) and Fletcher (Jonathon Schaech) on their night shift. A late-night distress call takes them to a small apartment building, where the police are investigating a report of horrific screams. They soon learn that a woman who lives in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to leave with the news crew, only to find the building is now under quarantine. All communication in and out is stopped; the only evidence of what took place is the news crew’s videotape. Quarantine is also available in the Halloween Hub, available to stream on CTV.ca and the CTV App, with no subscription or sign-in required.
