MuchMusic Goes Fall Throttle: Hot New Series, Blockbuster Movies, and Returning Fan Faves Premiere This Fall

MuchMusic kick-starts the fall television season with a jam-packed schedule of exclusive premieres, buzz-worthy series, blockbuster movies, and the return of fan favourites.

New competition series OH SIT! (Aug. 15) doesn’t take a back seat! Hosted by Jamie Kennedy (Scream, THE JAMIE KENNEDY EXPERIMENT, GHOST WHISPERER) and MTV Canada’s own Jessi Cruickshank (THE AFTER SHOW) this new, high energy competition takes musical chairs to a whole new level. Raising the bar on music competitions, THE NEXT: FAME IS AT YOUR DOORSTEP (Aug. 16) features superstar mentors Joe Jona, Queen Latifah, and Nelly. And Much moves in the right direction with the exclusive premiere of hot new reality series, ALL THE RIGHT MOVES (Sept. 4). Much also is the exclusive home of the most-talked about rebooted series with the premieres of HIP-HOP SQUARES (Sept. 9) and the North American rendition of smash-hit British comedy, THE INBETWEENERS (Sept. 9).

Every day of the week Much delivers must-see television with the final season of fan favourite GOSSIP GIRL (Oct. 8), all-new episodes of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES(Oct. 12), and Much original cult-hit series THE L.A. COMPLEX. Returning to Much are the highly-anticipated competition series THE VOICE (Sept 12) and Season 19 of the iconic beauty competition series AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL (Aug. 30), the “College Edition”.

OH SIT! – *New Series*
Much Exclusive Premiere Wednesday Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. ET
Hosted by actor/comedian Jamie Kennedy and actress/television host Jessi Cruickshank, OH SIT! is a fun, high-stakes, high-octane musical chairs competition, in which 12 thrill-seeking daredevils race head to head through five, physically demanding, obstacle course-style eliminations as they each compete to claim a chair, to the sounds of a live band. At the end of the hour, only one contestant will be left sitting triumphant to seize the cash prize. Adding to the fun, Tanika Ray (EXTRA) will be in the trenches with the contestants both on and off the track and will add color commentary from the sidelines as the action unfolds.

THE NEXT: FAME IS AT YOUR DOORSTEP – *New Series*
Much Exclusive Premiere Thursday, Aug. 16 at 9 p.m. ET
A nationwide search for undiscovered artists on the verge of stardom, from executive producer and hip-hop icon Queen Latifah. In this new take on the music competition genre, superstar mentors, including Grammy® Award-nominated musician and actor Joe Jonas, and Grammy Award-winning hip-hop superstar Nelly, travel to where the talent is, and take mentorship to a new level by moving in with these stars of tomorrow!

AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL “The College Edition” – *New Episodes*
Premieres Thursday, Aug. 30 at 9 p.m. ET
Let the catwalks and catfights begin! Season 19 of AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL premieres the first-ever college edition. Season 19 brings top fashion talent to this cycle. In addition to famed stylist Johnny Wujek as photo shoot creative consultant, the series introduces its first-ever social media correspondent, top fashion blogger Bryanboy. Bryanboy uses his extensive knowledge of both fashion and social media to mentor the models and highlight the scores, comments and video messages from the viewers that will be revealed in the show during judging. Also joining this cycle for multiple episodes is dancer and choreographer Jontè, who works with the models as the movement mentor.

ALL THE RIGHT MOVES – *New Series*
Much Exclusive Premiere Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 8 p.m. ET
Choreographer Travis Wall and his closest friends try to launch a dance company. ALL THE RIGHT MOVES chronicles the journey of Emmy®-nominated choreographer Travis Wall and his three closest friends as they launch the SHAPING SOUND Dance Company.

2012 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS
Airs Live Thursday, Sept. 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT
Airing live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, set to rock this year’s show is four-time VMA award-winner, Alicia Keys, who will premiere a brand new song from her upcoming album, and the British boy band phenoms, One Direction, who are first-time VMA performers and nominees. Canada’s own Drake, along with Rihanna, leads with five nominations. Other notable Canadian nominees include Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, K’Naan feat. Nelly Furtado, and Rise Against. The exploits of four friends, who are socially only marginally above what one of them calls “the freaks”, are presented as they grow from their late teen years into adults and as they go on their quest, usually unsuccessfully, for such grown up things as beer and sex.

Hollywood Squares gets a hip-hop makeover in this update to the classic gameshow. The show features A-List talent from the Hip Hop world including Fat Joe, Ghostface Killah, Biz Markie, and recognizable MTV personalities including Nick Cannon, Bam Margera, and cast members of Jersey Shore.

What can fans expect after the shocking Season 3 finale? Season 4 begins with the knowledge that everything is changing. As Elena and her friends enter into the final stretch of high school before graduation sends them off on different paths, their bond to their home town of Mystic Falls takes on a deeper meaning when a new villain seems intent on destroying it.

ARROW – *New Series*

Based on characters appearing in comic books and graphic novels published by DC Comics, ARROW follows billionaire playboy Oliver Queen, who was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow, a vigilante, to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory.

KICK-ASS – *Much Movie*

Dave Lizewski is an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan who one day decides to become a super-hero, even though he has no powers, training or meaningful reason to do so. Starring Aaron Johnson and Nicolas Cage.

At long last, Emily Owens feels like she is an actual grown-up. A group of Iraq War veterans looks to clear their name with the U.S. military who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed. Starring Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, and Jessica Biel.

Much Premiere Friday, Dec. 14 at 10 p.m. ET
Charlie St. Cloud has been given the gift of seeing his deceased brother, but when a new love interest is in trouble he must choose between saving a life or continuing to see his brother everyday. Starring Zac Efron and Kim Basinger.
