Top 10 for Week of Jan. 19-Jan. 25

As tempting as a $20 million stack of cash, viewers couldn’t resist The Rip, putting the film at No.1 on the English film list last week with 40.4 million views as it entered its second week in the Top 10 across 93 countries. It’s impossible to know who to trust in this suspenseful thriller about a Tactical Narcotics Team led by Lieutenant Dane Dumars (Matt Damon) and Detective Sergeant J.D. Byrne (Ben Affleck). The team follows up on a tip about a cartel stash house but finds way more money than expected, leading to mistrust among the officers over potential theft by one of their own.

Audiences kept the suspense going as they streamed the murder-mystery thriller His & Hers, putting the series at No. 1 on the English TV list with 17.2 million views. Anna (Tessa Thompson) is a reporter trying to get her career back on track, and Jack (Jon Bernthal), her estranged husband, is the detective investigating a murder in their small Georgia town. Both knew the victim – and suspect the other may have had something to do with the crime.

At No. 2 on the English film list with 15.9 million views was the new documentary Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart. The harrowing details of the kidnapping that dominated headlines in 2002 are laid out by the Smart family, including Elizabeth’s own account of her abduction at the hands of Brian David Mitchell and Wanda Barzee. For a whodunit from one of the genre’s greats, viewers turned to Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, propelling the series to No. 2 on the English TV list with 8.7 million views. Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent (Mia McKenna-Bruce) investigates the murder of her friend Gerry Wade (Corey Mylchreest), who died after a party at her lavish English country house.

One of the world’s greatest free solo climbers, Alex Honnold, took on an entirely new kind of challenge for Skyscraper Live, which ascended (pun intended) to No. 3 on the English TV list with 6.2 million views. In the live event, which was postponed by a day due to inclement weather, Honnold undertook his first-ever building climb, scaling one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers, Taipei 101 – with its many tricky features – rope-free in front of a global audience. Sports anchor Elle Duncan, pro wrestler Seth Rollins, professional rock climber Emily Harrington, climbing commentator Pete Woods, and CrunchLabs host Mark Rober contributed their insights during the nail-biting event, which saw Alex finishing the highest free solo climb of an urban structure in history.

Viewers seeking romance turned to Can This Love Be Translated?, which landed at No. 1 on the non-English TV list with 9 million views. The Korean rom-com follows a multilingual interpreter, Joo Ho-jin (Kim Seon-ho), who accepts a job interpreting for a global travel dating show only to find that the female participant is famed actor Cha Mu-hee (Go Youn-jung) – whom he once met before she was famous, and for whom he now finds old and new feelings swirling. Full of real-life romantic tension, Single’s Inferno Season 5 returned at No. 2 with 4.6 million views. The Korean dating show dropped a new batch of singles on the deserted Inferno Island with the chance to escape to Paradise should they find a match.

Finding Her Edge skated to the No. 4 spot on the English TV list, earning 5.5 million views. Based on Jennifer Iacopelli’s young adult novel of the same name, the series centers on Adriana (Madelyn Keys), a young ice dancer who fakes a romance with her World Championships partner to try to land a key sponsorship and save her family rink from financial ruin.

Also new to the list is Free Bert, the raunchy yet heartfelt comedy starring Bert Kreischer as an unfiltered father trying to acclimate to the standards of a fancy new school for the sake of his two daughters. The six-episode series nabbed the No. 8 spot, collecting 3.2 million views.

No Time to Die stole the No. 3 spot on the English film list, garnering 9.6 million views. The final title of Daniel Craig’s tenure as 007 is one of 25 James Bond movies newly added to Netflix. That’s followed on the list by the globe-trotting friends-to-lovers romance People We Meet on Vacation, which claimed the No. 4 spot with 9.3 million views.

The Indian romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein, about a fighter pilot and a psychologist who confront their turbulent past when they reunite after years apart, won the top spot on the non-English film list with 3.8 million views.

The Big Fake launched in the No. 2 spot on the list with 3.1 million views. Inspired by true events, the Italian crime drama centers on an aspiring artist who gets involved in the criminal underbelly of 1970s Rome and becomes one of the greatest forgers of all time.

From the Ashes: The Pit debuted in the No. 3 spot on the non-English film list with 1.6 million views. A sequel to the 2024 movie From the Ashes, the Saudi Arabian film sees a group of teens trapped in an underground pit during a severe storm, where they’re forced to confront their broken bonds and work together to survive.
