International production and distribution company Engine Entertainment is achieving success around the world with the first-of-its-kind mixed martial arts (MMA) BELLATOR FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS, having just announced deals in Australia, Mexico, France, Finland, South East Asia, and Africa.
The increasingly popular and high-rating fighting program has been licensed for viewing on Foxtel Main Event in Australia, MVS Multi Vision channels in Mexico, AB Media channels in France, Channel 4 / Nelonen in Finland, KIX and THRILL in South East Asia, and to Setanta for its channels in Sub-Sahara Africa.
Bellator is also being exhibited to internet viewers in Japan, and Engine is in discussions with free-to-air terrestrial broadcasters, pay-per-view and VOD platforms, and mobile services, worldwide.
Currently in its third season, Bellator airs on Fox Sports Net in the US and The Score in Canada.
“Bellator’s popularity and impressive ratings in the US are being noticed on a global scale, its demand from the MMA purists is travelling fast, and the production quality, along with the added value in each event, is attracting broadcasters worldwide” says Engine Entertainment’s Chris Philip.
With its unique tournament format, Bellator allows fighters to control their own destiny by eliminating the subjectivity of matchmaking, and replicating the objectivity of virtually every other professional sport. Guided by this concept, Bellator produces a unique, exciting, competitive and entertaining brand of MMA programming that is based on the most successful real-sports, objective competition format.
Engine Entertainment will be offering Bellator at MIPCOM in Cannes, October 4-8, and at Sportel in Monaco, October 11-14, along with their diverse slate of other television programming.
