Teletoon announces its fall programming highlights

New acquisitions for Teletoon include Di-Gata Defenders, Kappa Mikey, Loonatics Unleashed as well as seven new Detour titles including Robot Chicken, Space Ghost, Tom Goes to the Mayor, Squilbillies and more.

KIDS and TWEENS

With action-packed shows like The Batman and Class of the Titans, classics from Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang, and the latest breakout hit sitcom 6TEEN, it’s no wonder that TELETOON continues to be a favourite destination for kids 2 to 11.

Teletoon.com’s bilingual consumer site sees an average of 1.5 million visitor sessions a month, with visitors spending approximately 18 minutes on the site.

KAPPA MIKEY

When unemployed Cleveland actor Mikey Simon is recruited to join the cast of LilyMu, formerly Japan’s hottest anime series, his co-stars can tell right away that he’s the wrong guy for the job. But the viewers disagree, and suddenly, Mikey is Japan’s newest superstar, rocketing LilyMu back to the top of the ratings.

The licensing program for the series is expected to initially focus on categories such as toys, apparel, games and trend products. Based on the results of its February 2006 launch on NickToons, Kappa Mikey was given the go ahead for a second season.

Seven hundred years into the future, six descendants of the original Looney Tunes, each boasting special skills, unique abilities and gifted with a firm sense of justice, come together to form a brilliant ensemble of superheroes.

The futuristic redesign of the familiar characters fell upon the Tremblay brothers, from Montreal, who have also created and produced the TELETOON series “Mega Babies”. The series features cameos by Florence Henderson (The Brady Bunch), Tim Curry (The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Tom Kenny (Spongebob Squarepants), Vivica A. Fox (Kill Bill Vol. 1), Michael Clark Duncan (Sin City), and Phil Lamarr (MadTV).

Fall 2006 marks the triumphant return for pranking prodigy, Andy Larkin. What’s With Andy was one of the first breakout successes for TELETOON’s Original Productions throughout its entire 52 episode run which debuted in the fall of 2001. In addition to the first 2 seasons of 26 episodes each, the cartoon station has ordered another 26 episodes. With its simple prank-based formula, it offers an endless supply of funny stories that boys and their families can enjoy.

The Detour on TELETOON is the place to go for big politically-incorrect laughs, courtesy of teen and adult favourites like Family Guy, Futurama, and The Boondocks.

Sol Butcher, Ricky Butcher, and Doug Borski are three rockers with a mission. When they aren’t busy running their successful “Sons of Butcher Quality Meats” butcher shop in the armpit of downtown Steeltown, they rock out with their band, naturally called “Sons of Butcher”. Meet (meat?) your new favourite rock band!

Sons of Butcher is in the Top 10 on TELETOON for adults 18 to 34. TELETOON has ordered a second season of this young adult male-skewing series from S&S Productions, who also produced the successful and long-running Red Green Show.

CINETOON

TELETOON’s Saturday evening movies bring families together in large numbers. Historically, CINETOON presentations have performed very strongly, consistently ranking in the Top 10 with viewers 2+, kids 6-11, and adults 35+*.

SCOOBY-DOO IN WHERE’S MY MUMMY?
