I’m lost in Vidéotron’s way of adding new channels.

In the past, the day they add new channels, it becomes available to everyone for free for 1 month or so, but this time, PAX has been added discretely, I knew about it here this morning. The new channel has been added to i-USA and other packages, good.

But what about when they added LoneStar, DejaView, Scream and Drive-In Classics (digital) ? It was available for free for 1 month, but those channels has NEVER been added to packages, like i-films plus and i-varietes. Not to mention it took them 2 years to add them. We are still waiting for the missing music channels: MuchLoud, MuchVibe, BPM:TV, and Discovery Kids, not to mention CITY-TV where they got CRTC approval back in, what, november 2001 ?

BTW, whatever happened to Paris Premiere? It noticed it disappeared after the xmas holidays. The "International" link on paris-premiere’s official website brings me back to the homepage.

Back to subject, PAX’s programming is not impressive: 7pm to midnight have shows, most are syndicated shows, and rest of programming is 19 hours of infomercials!!! Here I thought SpikeTV had too much of ’em. Oh well.

There’s a perfectly logical explanation for how and why PAX was added. Videotron was able to buy the WWBI-TV broadcast rights dirt-cheap. This is partly due to the close proximity between Plattsburgh and Montreal (apart from the obvious fact there’s not much of a demand for a station like Pax). Consider it a free channel. It would probably even be on basic cable if it weren’t for the CRTC.
