TSN is On the Clock with Complete Coverage of the 2012 NHL DRAFT

It’s an event that shapes franchises’ futures and TSN is there for every pick and every move as NHL teams make their selections at the 2012 NHL DRAFT, live and in prime-time on Canada’s Sports Leader. Coverage begins on Friday, June 22 at 7 p.m. ET and continues through to the end of the First Round. TSN’s coverage of the 2012 NHL DRAFT is presented by Coors Light.

TSN’s live coverage of the 2012 NHL DRAFT is also available on TSN Mobile TV and TSN Radio stations. French-language coverage is available on RDS . NBC Sports Network will air TSN’s NHL DRAFT coverage in the United States.

2012 NHL DRAFT

James Duthie hosts TSN’s coverage direct from the DRAFT stage at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, interviewing GMs and players following their selections. Duthie is joined by TSN’s Draft Panel with Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, analyst Pierre McGuire and commentator Gord Miller teeing up each selection and delivering instant analysis.

Hockey Insiders Darren Dreger and Pierre LeBrun, along with TSN Scout Craig Button, provide the latest news and views on picks, trades and trade speculation, all from the Draft floor.

Last year the NHL DRAFT on TSN and RDS attracted an average audience of1.4 million Canadians – making it the most watched NHL DRAFT ever.

TSN DRAFTCENTRE Social Lounge

New this year, TSN debuts the TSN DRAFTCENTRE Social Lounge on TSN.ca – delivering exclusive behind-the-scenes content directly from a newly created social hub located on the Draft floor. The ultimate companion viewing destination on Draft Day, the TSN DRAFTCENTRE Social Lounge will feature exclusive interviews, videos and photos as the players visit hostAlyonka Larionov and give their immediate reaction on all of the news and excitement from Draft day.

All content from the TSN DRAFTCENTRE Social Lounge will be available to fans on-demand on TSN.ca.  The TSN DRAFTCENTRE Social Lounge will also track all of the reaction to the NHL DRAFT on social media with Draft twitter and Facebook feeds.  Fans from across the hockey world can join in on conversation using the hashtags #TSN and #NHLDRAFT.

BOB MCKENZIE’S NHL DRAFT RANKING SPECIAL

Monday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. ET

The 30-minute original TSN production has Hockey Insider and draft expert Bob McKenzie ranking the consensus Top 30 candidates – revealing this year’s most likely First Round choices at the NHL DRAFT. McKenzie is joined in the TSN studio by NHL ON TSN host James Duthie. Over on TSN.ca, the website features McKenzie’s complete 60-player prospect list, including player bios and TSN Scout Craig Button’s player reports.

NHL MOCK DRAFT

Tuesday, June 19 at 7:30 p.m. ET

Host James Duthie is in studio for the 30-minute show as TSN Scout and former GM Craig Button and analyst Pierre McGuire project who each team will pick in the First Round of the 2012 NHL DRAFT. The NHL MOCK DRAFTalso features interviews with Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin and top-ranked prospect Alex Galchenyuk of the Sarnia Sting.

NHL DRAFT IN 30 MINUTES: THE LINDROS SAGA

Wednesday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m. ET

TSN’s Darren Dutchyshen takes a look back at the 1991 NHL Draft and the year-long drama that unfolded after the Quebec Nordiques drafted top prospect Eric Lindros first overall.  The 30-minute program includes present-day interviews with former Quebec Nordiques president Marcel Aubut, former Philadelphia Flyers president Jay Snider, and former New York Rangers general manager Neil Smith. The program also looks at some of the other memorable First Round picks from the 1991 draft.

COUNTDOWN TO THE NHL DRAFT

Thursday, June 21 at 7 p.m. ET

Hosted by James Duthie, the 60-minute special live from CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh sets the stage for the 2012 NHL DRAFT with insight from Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, who reviews the TSN Top 10 consensus prospects and unveils his wild card picks, and TSN Scout Craig Button, who provides scouting reports and projects the Top 10 picks on the eve of the draft. Hockey Insider Darren Dreger delivers the latest trade news, while commentator Gord Miller hosts a panel with McKenzie and analyst Pierre McGuire, who will debate what the Edmonton Oilers will do with their third consecutive first overall pick.

COUNTDOWN includes a feature on top-rated Czech prospect Radek Faksa, who left home in the Czech Republic at the age of 11 to pursue his dream of playing in the NHL, plus interviews with No. 1 prospect Nail Yakupov, Oilers’ GM Steve Tambellini, and former NHL defenceman Ulf Samuelsson and his draft-eligible son Henrik.
