As the Official Broadcaster of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Rogers Sportsnet Ontario today announced its 2011/12 broadcast schedule featuring 29 regular-season games – more than any other Canadian broadcaster.
Sportsnet Ontario’s Molson Canadian Leafs Hockey coverage gets underway on Monday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. ET when the Leafs host the Colorado Avalanche. Coverage throughout the season features six divisional-rival games, including five against fellow Canadian teams.
Sportsnet registered a six per cent ratings increase last season for its Leafs broadcasts, with an average audience of 693,000 (2+) viewers.
“Toronto is a hockey-hungry market, and the appetite for Leafs hockey remains extremely strong,” said Navaid Mansuri, Vice President of Finance & Sports Programming, Rogers Broadcasting Ltd. “Our goal is to expand the fan experience and make Hockeycentral the destination before and after Leafs games.”
Leafs fans are invited to join Hockeycentral 30 minutes before and immediately following every Leafs broadcast for all the latest news and analysis. Hockeycentral features popular analysts Nick Kypreos, a former Maple Leaf, Doug MacLean, a former General Manager for the Columbus Blue Jackets, and host Daren Millard.
As an added bonus, Sportsnet will deliver to fans the Leafs pre-season game on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. (ET) when the Leafs face the Philadelphia Flyers.
All 29 regular-season Leafs games on Sportsnet Ontario will be in high definition, including several key match-ups such as:
- 2 Battle of Ontariogames – Leafs and Ottawa Senators renew their rivalry starting on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. (ET) and meet again on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. (ET)
- 2 QEW clashes – Centre Tim Connolly and the Leafs battle their border cousin Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. (ET) and Tuesday, April 3 at 7 p.m. (ET)
- Leafs jet to Winnipeg – Winnipeg Jets host the Leafs on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 8:30 p.m. (ET)
- Hall in T.O. – Taylor Hall and the Edmonton Oilers visit the ACC on Monday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. (ET)
- Leafs face the champs – Toronto hosts the Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins on Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. (ET) and visit the TD Garden on Monday, March 19 at 7 p.m. (ET)
