Cirrus Communications is currently shooting the second season of Naked Josh, scheduled to air on Showcase this spring. This sexy romantic comedy, comprised of 8 new half-hour episodes, will be shot around Montreal in high-definition and widescreen. Production wraps January 30, 2005. Season 2 will air this spring on Showcase.
Season two follows Josh Gould (David Julian Hirsh), a sex professor with a lot to learn, as he continues to explore modern day relationships while discovering that what works in theory is not always what works in practice. This season, Josh grades himself on his relationship savvy when he commits to Samantha (Christina Colburn), the free-spirited artist who stole his heart at the end of last season. But is she really “the one”?
“We’re thrilled to have Naked Josh back for a second season. Men and women alike can relate to the main character’s struggle to find the right relationship as Josh searches for love and companionship,” says Laura Michalchyshyn, Senior Vice-President of Programming at Showcase.
Josh’s lovable sexual guides are back and in fine form for season two: his bartender and best friend Eric (Andrew Tarbet); Jenn (Patricia McKenzie), the lesbian bar manager looking for love in all the wrong places; feisty Natalie (Sarah Smyth), Josh’s smart, sassy student research assistant; and Hunter (Krista Bridges), Josh’s perpetually unattainable crush. New this year is Audrey Habedian (Claudia Ferri), a rival professor who challenges Josh’s reputation and job.
“After the success of the first seasons of Naked Josh and Ciao Bella, we are thrilled to continue our foray into English productions. Our diversification is taking a step forward and we are grateful to Showcase for this opportunity,” says Cirrus president Jacques Blain.
The first four episodes of Naked Josh’s second season are directed by Jim Donovan (The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo, Seriously Weird, MTV’s Undressed). Donovan’s feature film, Pure, is scheduled for release in 2005. James Allodi (Paradise Falls, The Uncles, Cold Feet) will direct the last four episodes. Co-created by Laura Kosterski and Alex Epstein, this season’s episodes are written by Laura Kosterski, Rob Sheridan (The Red Green Show) and Matt McLannan (15/Love).
Naked Josh is produced by Josée Vallée and André Béraud, with executive producers Jacques Blain and Richard Speer, in association with Showcase.
