How I Got Here, a powerful and moving documentary series from FORTE Entertainment, premieres on Super Channel Heart & Home

Super Channel is pleased to announce How I Got Here, a powerful and moving documentary series exploring family roots and connections from FORTÉ Entertainment, will premiere on Super Channel Heart & Home, Sunday Oct 9 at 9 p.m. ET. The Super Channel Heart & Home Original series follows second-gen children as they accompany their parents back to their country of origin, to relive the sacrifice, struggle and dramatic circumstances that led to their families coming to North America. Each of the ten, hour-long episodes will be available on Super Channel On Demand the day following its linear premiere. Super Channel is available via most cable providers across Canada as well as streaming on Amazon Prime Video channels and AppleTV+.

“How I Got Here is a perfect fit for Heart & Home as it explores the true meaning of family, community and connections,” said Jackie Pardy, Chief Content Officer, Super Channel. “We are sure viewers will be moved by the real-life stories this entertaining and uplifting series brings and inspired to learn more about their own family history and reconnect with their roots.”

“We are incredibly proud of this series and its message that, no matter where you are from or what your family looks like, we are all connected through the same human experiences. How I Got Here celebrates diversity, honours family connections and reminds us that it’s never too late to explore our own roots,” share executive producers and co-creators, Andrea & Mitchell Gabourie.

How I Got Here is an emotional and transformational journey connecting people to their roots, their culture, and their family. Part documentary: part intimate home movie, the series will feature sons asking fathers, daughters asking mothers, grandchildren asking grandparents to travel back together to the homeland that was left behind.

Each heartwarming episode introduces us to a second-generation young adult who wants to learn more about their cultural background than just a family recipe or a pre-imagined stereotype. On a ten-day trip of a lifetime, parent and child bond together in ways they could never imagine, as surprise reunions and adventures help the young adults see their parents in a different way, and the parent see their homeland in a new light. In locales ranging from Israel and Chile to Italy and Zambia, viewers join the parent-child duo on their transformational journeys.

The series features stories from seven Canadian based families and three US. For episode descriptions, click here.
