This September, HBO Canada, a multiplex channel of Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada) and Astral Media’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada), welcomes back Seinfeld co-creator Larry David and his Emmy(r)-winning unscripted
and improvised half-hour comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm for season 7. This landmark series is immediately followed by the premiere of Bored To Death, the new half-hour quirky comedy starring Jason Schwartzman, Zach Galifianakis and Ted Danson.
From executive producers and series stars Larry David and Jeff Garlin, HBO’s candid, unsparing and self-deprecating comedy series that blurs the line between reality and fiction returns with Larry continuing to cope with the aftermath of Cheryl’s (Cheryl Hines) departure even as his life remains intertwined with the Black family. The new 10-episode season of Curb Your Enthusiasm will also feature a highly anticipated multiple-episode story arc with former Seinfeld cast members Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards that begins on Sunday, October 3.
Additional guest stars this season include series veterans Ted Danson,Mary Steenburgen, Richard Lewis and Vivica A. Fox, plus new guest stars Sharon Lawrence, Catherine O’Hara, Meg Ryan, Elisabeth Shue and Christian Slater. On Sunday, September 20 at 8 p.m. ET/MT, HBO Canada presents the network premiere of Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm, the 1998 one-hour comedy special that was the basis for the series.
Following Curb Your Enthusiasm each Sunday is Bored to Death, a comedy series based on the semi-autobiographical musings of eclectic author Jonathan Ames. Bored To Death tells the story of the fictional Jonathan Ames (Jason Schwartzman), a young Brooklyn writer who, in the wake of a painful break-up, is finding it difficult to write his second novel. Rather than face reality, Jonathan turns instead to his fantasies, including moonlighting as a private detective, in an attempt to emulate his heroes from classic crime novels.
Mixing noir mystery and neurotic humour, the eight-episode first season follows Jonathan’s misadventures as he offers his services as a private detective through a Craigslist ad. With virtually no experience,
responses begin to roll in and Jonathan finds himself taking on cases and injecting his own personal problems into his clients’ situations. Along for the ride are Jonathan’s needy magazine editor boss, George
Christopher (Ted Danson), who frequently interferes with his newfound career, and his best friend Ray (Zach Galifianakis), a struggling graphic artist who does his best to advise him but can barely keep his
own life together.
Guest stars include Olivia Thirlby, Heather Burns, Kirsten Wiig, Parker Posey, Bebe Neuwirth, Oliver Platt, Patton Oswalt and John Hodgman.
New episodes of both series will continue to air throughout fall and will also be simulcast on HBO Canada HD and will be available on demand following their network premieres.
