JULY 20 – HBO Max’s DOWNEY’S DREAM CARS *Season 1*
- Produced and hosted by Robert Downey Jr., the HBO Max Original docuseries DOWNEY’S DREAM CARS debuts with all six episodes on Thursday, July 20. Robert Downey Jr. loves restoring classic cars, but he’s also become dedicated to fighting climate change. So he’s bringing his beloved old cars into the future, making them faster, more powerful, and more efficient while keeping their souls intact.
JULY 21 – STARZ Original Series MINX *Season 2 Premiere*
- The wildly funny and critically acclaimed workplace comedy MINX returns Friday, July 21 on STARZ. Set in 1970s Los Angeles, MINX centres around Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond), an earnest young feminist who joins forces with a low-rent publisher (Jake Johnson) to create the first erotic magazine for women. In Season 2, Doug, Joyce, and the entire Bottom Dollar crew grapple with Minx’s explosive success, which takes them all to thrilling new places and brings more money, fame and temptation than anyone knows how to handle. JULY 21 – BARBIE DREAMTOPIA *Animated Series*
- Join Barbie and her little sister Chelsea as they embark on an enchanting journey through the whimsical worlds of Dreamtopia. JULY 24 – HBO’s THE GOLDEN BOY *Documentary Premiere*
- After its world premiere at the 2023 Tribeca Festival, HBO’s two-part Original documentary THE GOLDEN BOY, directed by award-winning filmmaker Fernando Villena, is available for streaming on Monday, July 24 at 9 p.m. ET. By the age of 19, Oscar De La Hoya was an Olympic boxing gold medalist, a multi-world title-winning professional boxer, a hometown hero, and a role model to his Mexican-American community in East Los Angeles. Nicknamed “The Golden Boy,” De La Hoya – with his good looks, electric charisma, and heartfelt story of winning Olympic gold for his dying mother – rocketed to national prominence as a superstar both in and outside the ring. But all was not what it appeared to be behind that polished facade. Told in De La Hoya’s own words through a series of candid interviews with him and those closest to him, and featuring rare archival footage, THE GOLDEN BOY peels back the layers of this celebrated yet complicated figure, exploring his triumphs and turmoil to reveal a man struggling to come to terms with lifelong demons, and the impossible burden of a nickname he couldn’t live up to.
JULY 26 – HBO’s AFTER THE BITE *Documentary Premiere*
- Directed by Ivy Meeropol, AFTER THE BITE looks at how the serene waters off southern Massachusetts have become one of the world’s hotspots for great white sharks during the past decade. Explosive growth in the seal population and shifting climate patterns are drawing sharks to this part of the northwest Atlantic. The film is a portrait of how local residents – and the thousands of vacationers who flock to Cape Cod every summer — grapple with this alarming new reality while following the science to investigate what marine life can tell us about the health of the ocean. AFTER THE BITE premieres Wednesday, July 26 at 10 p.m. ET on Crave.
