War, Lies and Videotape

Another battle is taking place in Iraq. In the struggle to get information, the media are deploying bribery and other tactics to topple political barriers and break through spin. In a Global National news special to air tonight, War, Lies and Videotape will examine how the world’s most televised war is evolving into a confusing exchange of propaganda. Despite unprecedented media access on both sides of the conflict, the axiom: “the first victim of war is the truth” is truer than ever.

With reports from various media sources, including Global National’s front line correspondents, War, Lies and Videotape gives viewers a glimpse of the challenges and limitations journalists face when reporting from war territories and will provide insight into how decisions made in the heat of conflict affect the news you see, hear and read.

With analysis from the team at the CanWest News Service (CNS) War Desk, Global National disseminates the information, examines the angles and seeks to help Canadians understand what in the world is going on as the media war follows the conflict in Iraq.
