History was made yesterday on Martha when Stuart Claxton, Head of Research from Guinness World Records presented a certificate to host Martha Stewart, stating that yesterday's episode of the new syndicated daytime show represented “The Largest Same First & Last Name Gathering.” on yesterday's installment, 164 women whose legal names are all Martha Stewart (Stuart) attended the live show in New York sharing anecdotes about their famous moniker and chatted about the impact the name has had on their daily lives. The “Marthas” came from all across the United States and Canada – including Martha Stewart from Chilliwack, B.C. and Martha Stewart from Calgary, AB – and ranged in age from an 11-year-old Martha Stewart from Florida to a 90-year-old Martha Stewart from North Carolina, who arrived with her daughter, also named Martha Stewart. In addition to attending the show and sharing stories, all the Marthas joined Stewart for lunch and were given a bus tour of some of Martha's favorite places in New York. “Today was particularly special for me. I was delighted to spend time with these interesting women and share their personal stories. The fact that we all share the same name made the day that much more entertaining and I'm glad I had the chance to acknowledge the great things these ladies are doing in their communities and in their lives. We had a great deal of fun and we're thrilled that the gathering put us in the Guinness Book of World Records,” said Stewart.
