Global Television Network is pleased to announce
that The Mike Bullard Show will premiere on the full Global network on Monday,
November 24th, 2003.
Bullard’s highly publicized move to the Global Television Network was announced in early August of this year. His multi-year deal will see him play an active role in CanWest’s newspaper and online properties, as well as in features on Global’s entertainment and news properties, in addition to hosting his late night talk-variety show.
“Our success in signing Mike Bullard is another major advance as we continue to deliver on our commitment to develop top Canadian talent and content”, says Rick Camilleri, Chief Operating Officer, CanWest Global Communications Corp.
“Mike’s well established reputation as both a comedian who thrives on spontaneity and a gifted talk show host, as well as his extremely committed and enthusiastic fan base, guarantee an eager audience for his new show”, concluded Camilleri.
Six years ago, while still working at his day job with Bell Canada, Bullard’s burgeoning reputation as a comedic force and one of the country’s top M.C.’s, landed him a plum offer from the then-fledgling Comedy Network: to host its flagship program, a late night, live talk show. At that point, Bullard quit his day job and devoted himself fully to his comedy career. As a result, Open Mike was born and the rest, as they say, is Canadian late night history.
A fast and furious success, Open Mike was picked up by the CTV Television Network in 1998 and Canada finally had its first home-grown, late night success story.
Beginning November 24th, The Mike Bullard Show will be seen five nights a week at midnight on the Global Television Network. The show will be taped nightly, in front of a studio audience, at the new Global Theatre on the Esplanade in Toronto.
