Jamie Oliver’s all-new, six-part FOOD REVOLUTION joins the /A\ schedule Fridays at 9 p.m. ET
Jamie Oliver has travelled to North America to start a revolution. The impassioned chef, TV personality and best-selling author is determined to take on the high statistics of obesity, heart disease and diabetes in America, where that nation’s children are the first generation not expected to live as long as their parents.
Oliver made his way to Huntington, West Virginia – which has been called the unhealthiest city in America – to start his new cooking initiative. He hopes to help get Huntington off that list and start a chain reaction of positive change across the country.
In this week’s episode (Friday, March 26 at 9 p.m. ET), Jamie Oliver takes one step forward and two steps back as his efforts to transform the school lunch program of Huntington’s Central City Elementary School are met with harsh criticism and resistance from the school cook, plus city administrators, DJ Rod and even the school’s first graders. But despite the opposition, he does successfully raise the ire of school parents with a shocking, no-nonsense display of the fat that’s being fed to their children, and he’s encouraged by the initiative of a few caring teachers. After a week of ups and downs at Central City Elementary, the fate of Oliver’s mission to stay on at the school lies in the hands of a few district administrators.
Oliver’s U.K. series, JAMIE’S MINISTRY OF FOOD and JAMIE’S SCHOOL DINNERS saw his successful grass-roots efforts improve the school lunches in communities and even resulted in a total overhaul of the school dinner program in the U.K. Through this latest series, Oliver aims to inspire viewers of all ages to take a stand and change the way they eat in homes, schools and workplaces.
JAMIE OLIVER’S FOOD REVOLUTION is produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions and Fresh One Productions. Executive Producers are Jamie Oliver, Ryan Seacrest and Craig Armstrong (EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION).
