Beginning Tuesday, August 25 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times), 10 couples leave their hearts on the dance floor as the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA performance shows begin. The Top 20 think they can dance; now it’s Canada’s turn to be the judge. CTV announced today details on how viewers can vote for their favourite SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA dancers this season, and all votes are free from landline telephones. This is a crucial part of the competition, as Canadians are given a say in who will represent the nation in the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA Top 10 and ultimately become Canada’s Favourite Dancer this season.
Voting is restricted to one, two-hour window following the conclusion of Tuesday’s performance show broadcasts in each region of the country. For the first five weeks viewers will vote on their favourite couples, and for the remaining four weeks they will vote for their favourite dancers. The voting telephone number will appear at the bottom of the screen following each performance as well as at the end of the broadcast. Each vote is free from landline telephones. The results of the countries votes will be announced every Wednesday night starting August 26 at 7:30 p.m. ET on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times.)

Viewers watching a feed on satellite or digital cable that is earlier or later than the regularly scheduled broadcast in their region will not be able to vote outside of their regional voting window; instead, they will hear a “busy” signal. The voting window is fixed and is open for two hours, starting immediately after each performance episode concludes in each broadcast region.

How to Vote for Free by Toll-Free Telephone:
Each couple (for the first five weeks) or dancer (for the remaining four weeks) will be assigned his or her own toll-free number (e.g. 1-877-9-SPIN-01 or 1-877-9-7746-01 for Competitor #1) that will appear on screen, and be announced during each performance show. Only after the broadcast is over can viewers cast their vote by dialing the phone number of the couple or dancer for whom they wish to vote. Viewers can vote from a landline, cell phone or pay phone anywhere in Canada. The phone lines remain open for two hours following the broadcast in each region. All votes are free from landline telephones.
After viewers vote, they will hear a pre-recorded message thanking them for voting for their chosen competitor or couple. After the voting window, no more votes will be accepted and lines will play out a “busy” signal. Voting is toll-free from landline telephones, including pay phones. If a wireless phone is used to vote, airtime and applicable roaming charges may apply.
VOTING TIPS
Call during non-peak periods.
The toll-free voting lines are open for two hours following each SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA broadcast. The busiest voting period generally occurs within the first 30 minutes after the broadcast ends. If you call to vote during the first few minutes after the show, you’ll most likely get a busy signal or no dial tone at all. Waiting for non-peak times before calling increases your chances of successfully voting for your favourite SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA couple/dancer using the toll-free numbers. Take advantage of the full two-hour voting window and call later.
Wait for dial tone before dialing.
We know you’re excited, but calls to the toll-free lines can only be processed if a dial tone is heard. Don’t try to make a call until after you hear a dial tone. If you don’t hear a dial tone, do not hang up and try again. Stay on the line and wait until you hear a dial tone; this will maintain your priority in the queue. Waiting to hear a dial tone keeps your line ready for the next dial tone that becomes available.
Do not use automatic re-diallers.
Most automatic re-diallers are not sophisticated enough to wait for a dial tone when calling the toll-free numbers. Calls can only be processed if a dial tone is heard. During periods of high call volume, dial tone may be delayed and automatic re-dials may not go through.
Use a cell phone to call.
Try calling from a cell phone if you cannot get through using a landline. Cell phone transmissions go to a tower and, in most cases, are then fed along a dedicated trunk line that is separate from a regular landline. You may have a better opportunity to vote via a cell phone as cell phone lines are generally less congested. But keep in mind, if a wireless phone is used to vote, airtime and applicable roaming charges may apply.
