Mr. Leslie Sole, CEO, Television, Rogers Media, today announced the rebranding of CFMT-TV and CFMT “too” under the umbrella label of OMNI TELEVISION. CFMT “too” will launch as OMNI.2, Monday, September 16, on channel 44, cable 14. The transition of CFMT-TV to OMNI.1 will be phased in over the next year. In the interim, all language news programming produced by CFMT-TV will soon change to OMNI News, supported by a multi-media advertising campaign to begin mid-August, 2002.
“We decided it was time for a one word label that would describe what we do and how we do it in the most broadest, inclusive terms,” said Sole. “Omni means everybody, every place, all people, all stories, all communities, all the time.”
The rebranding strategy also calls for the launch, in the near future, of Rogers OMNI Productions, and an OMNI website.
In a related move, Rogers has recently introduced a new logo/symbol to the media community. To be known as the “diversity circle,” the new icon is a six colour circular swirl that illustrates perpetuity connected individualism and integrated motion.
“We believe that as we begin a new era in broadcasting, this symbol — as does our programming — defines inclusion, acceptance and reflection of a diverse Canada,” confirms Madeline Ziniak, Vice President and General Manager of the OMNI stations.
