Highlights of the 2003-2004 season.
From the sixth and final season of Sex and the City, to a sensational new performance by tenor Andrea Bocelli, Bravo!’s fall line-up has it all. Offering an eclectic array of new arts programming that ranges from progressive films and television series to operas and performances featuring some of the world’s greatest talents, Bravo!’s fall season has something for everyone.
"We have an exciting fall schedule ahead, with the introduction of The Antique Ghost Show, Strip Search, Art Crimes and Mysteries, and the entire HBO Original Movie catalogue into our line-up,” said Isme Bennie, Director of Programming and Acquisitions. “We'll also have Andrea Bocelli in Madame Butterfly and a selection of fine Canadian-produced documentaries on the arts. Add a new season of Sex and the City to the mix, along with our own original productions such as Live at the Rehearsal Hall and Arts & Minds, and Bravo! continues to exceed its mandate as Canada’s NewStyleArtsChannel."
APPOINTMENT WITH BRAVO!:
Bravo! is a rest stop in the television universe where viewers make a regular APPOINTMENT WITH THE ARTS – and keep it. Each day of the week offers the opportunity to delve into a unique art form. Dance, music, drama, literature, cinema, great performers and visual arts – Monday to Sunday, Bravo! has a day for every artistic pursuit. Whether it’s a classic opera, or the progressive rock of Canadian Grammy-winner Daniel Lanois live in the Bravo! Rehearsal Hall; a Stratford production of Shakespeare, or a cutting-edge HBO film; an engaging conversation with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon, or an in-depth look at the process of authenticating antiquities, Bravo! gives viewers an opportunity for enriching and thought-provoking experiences.

World Television Premieres – Beginning September 20
This cheeky new 13-part half-hour reality series documents the impulse that makes people want to perform and the process they go through in order to do so. This has been the subject of many movies, from Singin' In The Rain to The Full Monty. Strip Search follows the auditioning and the training of Canadian men vying to become part of a world-class professional Las Vegas-style male dance troupe.
THE HBO ORIGINAL MOVIE

CHUM Television has acquired the entire catalogue of HBO Original Movies for broadcast on its cable stations. Bravo!, the primary broadcaster, is dedicating every Friday night to THE HBO ORIGINAL MOVIE starting September 5th. The catalogue encompasses over 100 existing titles, plus the rights to the Canadian television premieres, post-pay TV, of new titles from HBO’s 2003/2004 and 2004/2005 seasons.
ANTIQUE GHOST SHOW

Canadian Television Premieres – Beginning September 7
After a medium relates the story behind a precious antique by tapping into its ethereal qualities, a team of experts in art, genealogy and history are given 48 hours to determine if the spiritual intermediary's claims are accurate. An entertaining look into the world of antiquities, the series offers a unique perspective on the research process that goes into authenticating heirlooms.
MADAME BUTTERFLY
Canadian Television Premiere – October 11 (time to be confirmed)
The world’s biggest-selling classical artist, Andrea Bocelli, takes centre stage in Giacoma Puccini’s masterwork Madame Butterfly. Filmed at the spectacular Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo, the lavish production is a star-studded affair both on stage and off. The "fourth tenor" is accompanied in performance by the fabulous Carla Maria Izzo in the part of Cio Cio San, in addition to members of the world renowned Foundation Puccini’s Festival. And, to add the final touch of class, the occasion is graced with the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline of Monaco.
ART CRIMES AND MYSTERIES

Canadian Television Premieres – Beginning September 7
Jesse L. Martin of Law & Order hosts this six-part series that follows the investigations of six of the most brazen art frauds and thefts in recent history. An intriguing world of deception and violence is revealed as each hour-long episode unfolds like a detective story. The show’s documentary style combines dramatic reconstructions and interviews with the detectives who cracked the cases and the criminals who masterminded them.
ACROBATS AND MANIACS
Canadian Television Premiere – October 6 (time to be confirmed)
Explores the very heart of the “nouveau-cirque” – the people who create the magic and the people who perform it. The documentary introduces the viewer to the fascinating characters who make up the Quebec troupe Cirque Eos and highlights their dreams, fears and incredible commitment to being a Cirque performer.

Bravo! continues with seven new episodes of the innovative series that examines the state of blues music in Canada and around the world through in-depth interviews with notable musicians. Produced in association with Bravo!.
CIRCUS SCHOOL
Canadian Television Premieres – Beginning January 2004
A five-part documentary series that goes behind the scenes of Canada’s National Circus School to follow the lives and training of students as they develop into the Circus’s top performers. Every year, the National Circus School in Montreal trains up to 60 aspiring circus artists ranging in age from 14 to 29. Hailing from all over the world, they exhibit a level of skill, dedication and potential far superior to that achieved by most young people their age. This series looks at how these young men and women overcome fear, struggle with pain and soar toward their dreams as they become the circus stars of tomorrow.

MONDAY – ROAD TO AVONLEA
A popular Canadian series based on Lucy Maud Montgomery's novels set in Avonlea, P.E.I. that follows the adventures of Sara Stanley and many unforgettable characters from the author’s original works. Stars Sarah Polley, Colleen Dewhurst, Mag Ruffman, Barbara Hamilton and Marilyn Lightstone.
TUESDAY – SEEING THINGS
Louis Del Grande stars in this mystery/comedy series about a Toronto tabloid writer who routinely stumbles on murders and solves them with the help of his clairvoyant visions of the killings.
WEDNESDAY – THE GREAT DETECTIVE
A Victorian whodunit set in Ontario starring Douglas Campbell as Inspector Alistair Cameron, a character inspired by the memoirs of John Wilson Murray (the man generally regarded as Canada’s first detective).
THURSDAY – LITTLE MEN
Based on the 1871 novel by Louisa May Alcott, the celebrated author of the classic Little Women, the series chronicles the heroic struggles of Jo Bhaer, who deals with the tragic death of her husband by fulfilling their dream of running a boarding school for boys in rural Massachusetts. Stars Michelle Rene Thomas, Spencer Rochfort, Corey Sevier and Trevor Blumas.
FRIDAY – SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE’S LOST WORLD
John Landis presents an exciting series based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic adventure about a hunter, a reporter, an heiress and a skeptical scientist who become stranded, shortly after their expedition begins, in a land of hostile beauty where anything can happen. Stars David Orth, Jennifer O'Dell, Peter McCauley, Rachel Blakely and William Snow.
