Experience Showcase and National Geographic Channel Like You’ve Never Seen Them Before

The unparalleled imagery of National Geographic Channel and the leading-edge drama of Showcase leap off the screen with the introduction of High-Definition television (HDTV) services – National Geographic Channel HD and Showcase HD. These HDTV services, the first from Alliance Atlantis Communications, are now available to the public through Rogers Cable, Shaw Cable and Star Choice. Each of these television service providers launched the two HD services and currently are offering a free preview of both channels to their HD customers.

National Geographic Channel programming truly comes alive and is beyond compare in high definition, with viewer favourites such as Seconds From Disaster, Megastructures, and Dog Whisperer, plus Mysteries of the Tornado and Hollywood Science that can’t be missed in HD. Showcase HD takes leading-edge, acclaimed dramas like CSI, CSI: Miami, Rescue Me, Weeds, The L Word, Dead Like Me and Rent-A-Goalie to a whole new level by allowing viewers to experience and truly “feel” groundbreaking dramas in the best possible quality.

“Canadians are quickly embracing the HDTV format and demanding the best quality content to fill it. Just in time for the holiday season – and for viewers who find a high-def television under their tree this year – Alliance Atlantis is bringing two leading networks to the High Definition screen,” says Norm Bolen, Alliance Atlantis’ Executive Vice-President of Content. “National Geographic is a brand that built its reputation on the finest quality images anywhere – NGC HD will expand that promise to television. Showcase features world-class dramatic offerings from Canada and around the world, and now Showcase HD will take that drama to new heights.”
